Recommend an inexpensive pellet or bb pistol

I understand that China is in every supply chain, all the time, but in my view of things less is better. My biggest gripe is not limited to Chinese stuff, but using inferior materials and not considering time and pain of rebuild process. I also recognize that that's the way things operate these days because engineers and bean counters run the world, and I'm just a grumpy old guy. :D

Well I ended up buying a S&W m&p bb pistol. $50 at bass pro. I have only fired a few magazines so far. No problems with it. Accuracy is acceptable trigger is a little long but I am getting used to it. It has scratched the itch. (Made in Taiwan). So far pretty happy with it.
Thanks for all the replies. Photo below.

That should work nicely. I have a few CO2 handguns that mimic modern autoloaders. My Gamo PT85 and my Daisy 5501 have the slide-action features (pellets for the Game and BBs for the Daisy.) One of my favorites is the "Bone Collector" pistol (Gamo) I got at Bass Pro....

...unless you count the Umarex MP40 submachine gun I also have (yes, it's full-auto capable.)

All this talk about air pistols coupled with recent experience on son's Daisy Power Line 1200 compelled me to order a Crossman 1322 this week.

I like .22 air guns, but the fact is that .177 pellets are available everywhere. .22s are not at al unattainable, but not nearly as easy to find as .177s

The Crosman 1377 also has a little known unadvertised feature. Bamboo skewers.

10 pumps, drop a skewer down the barrel

and you have your very own harpoon pistol.

Bought a Sig 1911 for $75. Used, at a LGS in April. New retail is less than $100 I believe. image.jpg I have 10-12 air pistols/revolvers all CO2, except my break-barrel pneumatic rifles ( 1 a Gamo shotgun). For backyard rodent control I pull out my Crosman 2240 bolt action single shot. It’s been around for decades, and still going strong. As a +, there’s a ton of upgrade parts available. I have a solid brass breech coming; when it arrives I’ll install it along with the 12” barrel I have on hand. My first 2240 finally lost its seal (after 20+ years) it was cheaper to buy a new one @ $80. than to send it in for repairs ($69. + postage)!

I used to own a single shot Crosman pump pellet gun .177 that was one of the finest handguns I have ever shot.

I could just see some little old man on the assembly line at the Crosman factory lovingly building my pistol and test firing it and saying there goes a fine weapon.

Admittedly, it was just a single shot target pistol that had a slide door on the barrel to load a pellet in but what an incredibly well made handgun.

That sounds like an old 1377. I still have mine, from around 1986. The old ones just had that "slide door" to load it through, while later ones have more of a closing bolt. Mine came with an optional shoulder stock that can be affixed after removing the grip panels. Haven't shot it in years (decades, maybe), but remember it being pretty dead-on within its limits.

I bought the Beeman p17 after seeing it suggested here and love it .
I got the Benjamin NP trail today .
So far I hate it ! Worst trigger , I can't get used to it so far anyway

I know the OP has already made a purchase but I just wanted to throw this one out there.
Made in Taiwan. I have a couple thousand BBs through this one and it’s been great.

I have a Crosman 1322 and a 1377 and they are great fun and extremely accurate. This series is kind of like the ARs of air pistols because they can be heavily customized which is fun in itself. My 1322 wears a shoulder stock which makes it a nice little SBAR.

Looking for a inexpensive air gun pistol for backyard shooting. Just shooting cardboard and cans. Thinking around $50.

Take a look at my, Crossman M4 post, it's a rifle though but close to your price range.
While it will shoot both pellets & BB's I would highly suggest only shoot pellets if you want to retain accuracy. But it's your rifle & your choice !

I've got a couple of air-guns. I like mine to look like a real gun. I gotta admit that I don't really know where these were made. They're Umarex so probably China.

First up. A "Colt" replica Single Action Army.

I think I paid about $100 bucks for it. All metal construction, except for the plastic "ivory" grips and has pretty much the same weight and balance as the real McCoy. Close enough anyway to not feel like a toy. You load a BB into the "cartridge" you can see at the back of the cylinder. A Co2 Cartridge goes into the grip. From then on it operates like a standard single-action revolver. Fun for cans and such.

My other one I haven't fired yet...I just got it a couple of days ago.

A replica Thompson Submachine gun. Again, all metal construction, except for the polymer "wood." It weighs in at about 7.5 pounds (an original is about 11 lbs.). Almost exactly the same size as the original, you see my Kimber Micro 9 (not included) for size comparison.

It fires BB's from the box magazine, using two Co2 Cartridges for power. Both semi and full auto. More expensive of course at about $250 with free shipping, I really wish I'd had both of these when I lived out in the woods a few years back.

^^ I have the MP40 from that same "Umarex Legends" series. Got it a couple of years ago on sale for $170; it still runs $200 now (the wood on yours would definitely up the price a bit.) It operates the same way, two 12-gram CO2 capsules in the box magazine, along with about 50 BBs and the spring/follower, etc.)

I don't find it all that accurate in FA mode, but that's probably because I'm still laughing at how much fun it is. The bolt even reciprocates, adding a hammering feel to it when firing.
