Until today, the winner of my 'best ever packaging' award went to Montana Bullet Works -- which still deserves credit for their efforts in making sure their cast bullets ship undamaged.
However, today I had a package come from Graf's with a box of Acme + powder-coated 9mm bullets that, well, just look at this box:
Yes, that is indeed a remarkably small strapped plywood box -- my last refrigerator wasn't packed this securely! This is my first experience with Acme so I can't tell whether I'm the 100th customer or this is SOP, but I'm definitely reusing this box.
My last order of bulk-packaged bullets before this was 1K of Berry's plated 9mm via Midway, and they came in an inadequately-constructed cardboard box inside another cardboard box. The inside box split open during shipping and I had to help my postman gather up about two dozen bullets that spilled out between the edges of the outer box and all over the floor of his van.
Since the great pandemic we've all needed to ship things and have things shipped more often than ever. Anyone else care to share shipping horror stories -- or praise rare triumphs of real customer service?
