Package from Sportsman Guide arrived today and the AR barrel I ordered was missing

Hi everyone well the package I had been waiting on arrived today and the AR barrel I had ordered was missing from the box. The box had a big rip along the side and it was taped the barrel wrench I ordered was there but NOT THE BARREL!!!!! the package was delivered by UPS then USPS. I called Sportsmans Guide and the customer service lady was very nice and they are shipping me another one out hopefully it get here this time. Sorry about the rant but has something like this ever happen to you all.

Sportsman's Guide once shipped me a wooden rifle stock in a plastic bag. No padding, no bubble wrap, no box....just a silver colored thin plastic bag.

They're idiots.

I once ordered a rotary tool (dremel knock off) from them and it when it got there the plastic case that the tool and its 100 attachments are stored in was completely shattered. They had great customer service though and I had a new out very quickly. I order from them a lot and have had only had that one issue due to some rough handling during shipping.

I've mostly only ordered ammo from them, but I have a game camera on the way from them now. I haven't had any problems with their shipments yet!

I just received some shoot-n-see targets from them, which mysteriously did arrive in a padded box of wadded paper...but the gun cleaning kit that was to have accompanied it did not arrive. Never had a problem with them in the past, however.

I quit ordering from SG some years ago. Sounds like they still have good customer service, but their prices etc have sure changed.

Yes. I gave up on them when I ordered S&B ammo. They backordered it for almost a year. (over and over).
Meanwhile, I got the same product from Natchez and Cabelas in a more timely fashion.

Yup, I had the same thing the other day. A package I was expecting to come FedEx was delivered by my mailman. Seems FedEx delivered to my city's post office.

Pretty simple actually: UPS and FED-EX have the air fleets to move the USPS's Express and Priority parcels. Commercial airlines stopped doing it years ago. In return the USPS lets both of those companies have drop-off boxes at various Post Offices. The USPS will also deliver some packages that were initially processed and shipped by the other two companies.

I bought a muzzle loader build kit from across the country and in was packaged/boxed well, padded with my LOCAL NEWSPAPER.
Shippers cannot resist a box shipped from any company with a gun related name like xxxx Arms, etc.

As part of my job I recover DoD property from UPS. I visit one of two facilities in the CONUS that UPS uses to process what we call "Astray" or "frustrated" freight...lost shipments. UPS processes....3-5 53' trailers, PER DAY at this facility. Nothing on pallets...trailers packed front to back, top to bottom...PACKED FULL.

Come to think of it...I was there last week and there was an M16 style barrel in there, but there's so many variants out there on that family of rifles I couldn't say exactly but the chamber area was unmistakable...M4 feed ramps, too.

Had several boxes of .380 ordered for more than a year. Received several back order notifications, but they did eventually receive and ship at the original price of $11.87 per 50 round box.

Have I ever received a box that didn't have my order perfectly? Yes. Orders are packed by humans. Humans make mistakes. I get the problem solved, but I don't rage like a 5 year old in the process.

I have received over the year, many damaged packages from each of the major shipping companies. All I can do is make sure that anything that I ship is packed as well as possible. I basically packs each item individually, with an address label affixed to each item along with a bill of lading stating how many pieces are in the shipment, then box the entire order or job up in a heavy bubble wrap or plastic bag inside a box, the addresses printed on heavy labels, then put packing tape over the labels in case they encounter water they won't run. I probably used two feet of packing tape on a box I sent out today, and it was only a small mailing box from USPS, with two barrel shrouds and two front sight assemblies in it! Owner is probably going to cuss me a bit unwrapping everything, but at least I know it more than likely got there safe. Oh, and I ALWAYS ship with a tracking number so I know whether it gets there or not for sure.

Stuff happens. I'm glad Sportsman Guide (SG) made good. We really don't know if the problem was during shipping or when it was packed at SG. If you buy much merchandise through the mail, eventually there will be mistakes made. It is one of the reasons you need to inspect the outside of a container to see if it may have been opened or damaged in any way when you receive it. I used to be a member there until I realized that I didn't buy enough stuff to justify the membership fee on a consistant basis.
