I'm in the market for a modestly priced AR scope & mount for a 300 BLK. I've have LaRue mounts on my other rifles but I don't want to spend more for a mount than the scope costs.

Does anyone have experience with these mounts? I just want to make sure it is solid at that price point. This rifle is just a range gun for the most part but will probably see some hogs at some point but nothing extreme.

Thanks in advance!

I'll let you know when I get mine. It's been stuck in Illinois for the last 4 days. Ordered it on Friday. They said I was getting it on Monday-they've already moved that to Wednesday.

Can't speak for the Leupold mount as I've never tried one. Looks like one of those cookie cutter extruded mounts that various places sell with their name screen printed on the side. Nothing keeping it from doing the job but you can buy something very similar w/o any names screen printed on them for like $40 and it will work just the same. I've used plenty of the overseas cantilever mounts and they performed just fine, held zero, etc.

However, the Aero Precision mounts are very lightweight, well-made and available in a variety of tube diameters/offsets in black & FDE. I own at least a handful of the Aero mounts and I'm now starting to replace the overseas mounts with the Aeros just because. Primary Arms and Granite Ridge Outfitters both have them in stock for about 15% cheaper than what they're listed for on Aeros website.

For the money Aero Precision makes the mounts I buy most often. Also a few dollars cheaper than the Leupold.

Do the Aero mounts raise the scope enough to get some folding sights under them? There is no mention of it on their website. The LaRue mount has a 1.5" rise & sights fit under perfectly.

If you're planning on mounting BUIS you would more than likely want a quick-release scope mount. Imagine if your primary optic (scope) failed in the field and you weren't carrying the tool to take it loose, you'd be pooched.

Agreed but I am not looking to break the bank & this will not be used for anything serious so carrying a tool in my range bag won't be a big deal. Also I just don't want to remove the sights that are already installed.

Not sure on the Leupold mount, I'm sure it's good! For the same price point I've been using the Warne "X-Skel" mounts, and have been very impressed with them.

I think every brand I own is a standardized height or close to it, and I’d say you could squeeze in a set of sights if you chose the correct style mount. Some of the offset ones may sit too far back though.
