Well our complaints to our Senators worked. They did their job
Don't worry about Chipman, his Dentedness will give him a more prestigious job in the administration with more cash and perks.... In 2024 President Trump will make him the Ambassador to Afghanistan.
...Now, the question will be who they appoint as Acting Director, following the tradition of, now, 14 years' . . . .
...Hopefully this will start a new trend of denying anti-constitution lobbyists federal appointments.
Glad he’s gone.......
Is he really gone? Jen Psaki has already stated on the record they are in discussions with him regarding another role he can have in their administration. I don't believe he is truly gone at this point in time.About time that circus lost its lead clown.....
I would be surprised if the administration nominates anyone else for the permanent ATF directorship any time soon. They just have too much other controversial stuff they have to deal with right now. The option is to just let the "acting" director continue.Ya, small victory, they will find another anti gun advocate with a cleaner record.
Concur with this assessment. One suspects that the ultimate goal is going all in on increasing the number of Supreme Court justices, so it's doubtful the current administration will risk any other (more "minor") appointments requiring Senate approval for quite a while.I would be surprised if the administration nominates anyone else for the permanent ATF directorship any time soon. When the current director is doing the bidding of the administration i.e. 2 recent proposals, WHY REMOVE THEM? The only reason I can come up with is possibly...worse stuff is planned , upcomingI would be surprised if the administration nominates anyone else for the permanent ATF directorship any time soon. Exactly. The current ATF is doing what the administration wants anyway, so what does it matter? When the current director is doing the bidding of the administration i.e. 2 recent proposals, WHY REMOVE THEM? The only reason I can come up with is possibly...worse stuff is planned , upcoming
Symbolism. Biden promised the antigun lobby that he would nominate someone to their liking to be permanent ATF director. Promise kept. I guess it doesn't matter that it was all Kabuki theater.Exactly. The current ATF is doing what the administration wants anyway, so what does it matter?

The fact that the nominee was so extreme (and therefore doomed in the Senate) lends credence to this theory.
No, he was a gun banner and didn't even know what he was talking about when being questioned by Senate Republicans. They knew he was a terrible choice.I wonder if Chipmans association with Waco was a decidedly bad look and forced them to reconsider the optics of that particular choice. It's OK to be a gun grabber, just not a gun grabber LEO from the horrific Waco scene. That wasn't a good look for the ATF/Feds and there are alot of people around who still remember and hold the feds accountable for Waco. It's interesting to think of what media depictions would like like if something like that happened present day. Probably wouldn't be alot of sympathy for the BD's and the ATF would be hailed as heros.
I'm glad Chipman is out, but you gotta wonder what's next. Also, Joe did say he had something in store for beto, Gun Czar or something? Is that even a thing?
It's cute watching the mods try to snip politics. As if that's possible anymore.
Guns, healthcare, air...
As long as members act like adults, keep things focused, and steer clear of chest thumping hyperbole that adds nothing of value to the conversation, there is little work for us to do. But alas, some just can't help but air their spleen, so then we deal with it.It's cute watching the mods try to snip politics. As if that's possible anymore.
Guns, healthcare, air quality, cars, pan cake syrup, ammo price, ATF, FBI, CIA, 2nd graders making a paper hand turkey, even your gender, are all political now. Some hag sneered at me for buying Tang orange drink mix at a grocery store on my way to the range this morning.
Hopefully the ball keeps on rolling and the ATF figures out that their rulings only mean something BY OUR GOOD GRACES, not theirs. If they want the workload of millions of Americans that don't care, keep on selecting murderous fools like Chipman.
Seems like there's still some ATF guys on our side. Hopefully one of them gets bumped up into this role.
