What did you shoot today?

An oldie but a goody, not a firearm but more of an airgun, it’s a pneumatic throw line. 125 psi dropped down the PVC will shoot out the 45 ACP case, with fishing like high enough to reach the tallest tree. Then a larger string and rope can be looped around otherwise much more difficult to reach limbs.

You'll shoot your eye out with one of those!

that looks almost like one of the old Zebco 33s...

Hit the range today with the intention of running some 6.5 Grendel loads through the Chrono but, and I wish this wasn’t an all too common occurrence, forgot to bring my chrono.

It’s ok, was cloudy when I left the house and absolutely sunny at the range, so it’s probably better I didn’t try anyway as my chrono gets all finicky on real sunny days.

I did bring the HK P2000 in .40 to verify the zero on some new Trijicon sights so I shot that and the sights were dead on.

The sun was also a boon since I had wanted to try my new Holosun 507c green dot in the bright sun (red dots get washed out to my colorblind eyes in bright sunlight) and it performed perfectly, bright and crisp and the circle and dot doesn’t blur out with my astigmatism like the single dot does. I was so pleased with the results that I might be finally converting to a red [green] dot guy full time if it keeps up.

Which is bad news for my wallet, since I’ll need a few more …

Not today, but Wednesday last, my buddies joined me at the gun club at the outdoor ranges and we thoroughly enjoyed 3+hours all to ourselves shooting various hand guns and long rifles. A SKS 7.62 x39mm, my 6.5 Creedmoor, a 20 gauge pump, my.410 single shot, various 9mm hand guns, my S&Ws 610, Governor, 317, my Desert Eagle and Kimber 1911, a S&W M&P Sport .22lr and a few others that I can't recall right now (old age and all).

Haven't shot it in awhile M&P 2.0 9mm long slide , the target is Norma 115gr at 7 yards. I hit all over with Federal Syntec ,the147gr seemed to cause more muzzle flip.

Fascinating, I’ve always felt the 115s had more flip and the 147s the softest 9mms.

But recoil is always so subjective when it comes to feel.

Shot an informal 22 silhouette competition today and broke out all the 22 rifles that had a chance. Henry H001, scoped Marlin 60 and iron sighted Marlin 60. The scoped rifle portion was pretty good. The iron sight portion was not…

Does this count? IMG_2482.JPG ..... Was thinking about some .22 rimfire shooting today but it's raining. So I took the Bug-A-Salt into the garage and knocked off some flies checking zero on the laser, ( the orange thing hanging off the muzzle). Still zeroed - put the laser's red spot on a fly and squeeze the trigger. Can't be more than about 2 ft. away for best results. Don't want to be unethical and wound them, (grin). Then I decided to check out TRH today and posted this instead of the .22's I was planning on shooting. At least I got to shoot an A-Salt weapon and eradicate a few flies today.

My club range. , closed for 3 weeks because of the neighboring Ryder Cup, has reopened.
I thought “I need to stay proficient with my Beretta PX4” , so I packed into my range kit and headed out.
I discovered a very effective ammo saving procedure: the magazines I brought were for the Beretta 92!

So, what did I shoot today? Fuel? Time? Ego?
Yes.
But no guns.

20211003_180944.jpg Sighted in some rifles for a buddy who is working two jobs at the moment. He and his two teenage sons hunt deer on family land, but he is always strapped for time so I agreed to help him this year.
Got just a little more work to do, but this is using his factory ammo, so it won't get much better. I don't own any of these calibers, but I told him I'd buy dies if he bought powder and bullets.

Why does your friend hate the 06?

I shot in my 6.5 Creedmoor the scope got off some how but a little adjustment was all that was needed. But when I started shooting my 5.56 AR it started acting up. It tried to go full auto, I stopped & looked the gun over & found the trigger axis pin sliding out. I pushed it back in & started shooting again. I got through half a mag & the trigger locked, I pulled it apart & found the trigger at an odd angle with the hammer locked into the trigger. I took it home & tore it down. This is what I found. First time I have seen anything like it.

That has given me an idea. I could use something like that to shoot an arrow for something like bow fishing.
