I was looking for some Starline 45 ACP +P brass for reloading. Starline has 45 Super brass but NO 45 ACP brass at all available. The external dimensions of the Super brass are identical to the standard 45 ACP brass.

Would there be any problems using the slightly heavier 45 Super brass with my Ruger SR1911?

Oh yeah, loaded with a +P powder charge and NOT a Super powder charge!

Would probably need to reduce your load somewhat to account for the lower case volume. How much to reduce is the question.

No problem as long as you adjust your powder volume to compensate for the thicker brass. When times were hard (I was poor) I cut off range pick-up .30-06 and .308 to make 45 ACP. The case walls are thicker on those, too.

Any problems with extraction?

.45 super case walls are thicker iir correctly.
Starline says the web is thicker, not the upper case walls. They also use a different brass formula and heat treating. This has been my experience, I’ve been shooting/loading .45 super for a long time.

Bullets for both .45 ACP and .45 Super are the same diameter and finished load external case diameters are the same as .45 ACP loads using .45 ACP dies.

They also say internal case volume is “similar”. This is where I would reduce a bit to play it safe.

Other than the headstamps, the loads will be dimensionally similar on the outside. To be double sure you’re all good, lower the charge by 10 pct and work up to your desired .45 ACP load.

Stay safe.
