FEG Hi Power clone. Should I?

I have a FEG PA63 and regret not getting the 380 barrel for it years ago. It does fine with 9x18.
I had the PA 63, absolutely loved the feel of the gun while just holding it. Shooting it was another story entirely, just too much focused impact on my thumb. It was very odd... my brother had a Bersa 380, and we shot both at the same time. I honestly couldn't feel much of anything with the Bersa, while the PA 63 was jolting my hand and wrist.

After I started picking up 32s, I grabbed a FEG in that caliber, and sold the PA 63 to a buddy.

My APK MARK II. Reminds me I need to track down some 63 mags before they all disappear. The LGS I purchased it from was owned by a good friend who told me I should save the money and do it right as he unpocketed his Walther but I’ve never regretted the purchase nor saving 1/2 the price for a copy.

Im always on the lookout for FEGs and this thread has me shopping again in earnest. Again to the OP, excellent purchase that I’m sure you’ll enjoy!

FEG clones of the Walther PP and PPK. The PP is in 32acp with an aluminum frame. The PPK is in 380 with a steel frame. They're both pretty good shooters. They cost something like $250 apiece when I got them about five years ago. The 32 was a LE turn in, as I recall. Neither is beautiful like the one a few posts above, but they are still very functional. I assume they were probably made in the 80's or 90's.

I own both a Browning Hi-Power and a FEG clone. The FEG is a well made pistol and it functions well. My biggest criticism is the trigger pull. It is much rougher than the Hi-Power. I have not worked on it. I'm sure it can be improved. I am glad I bought it about 10 years ago for $200.

I’m pretty rusty, but this pistol looks like a keeper.

Yep sure looks like a keeper to me too!

Like your Hi-Power as well!

I've had 2 FEG hi-power clones and they were excellent handguns, very much on par with a Browning, minus the finish. Just make sure it is the HP clone and not the "close clones" that FEG also makes/made (the DA one or slide safety one, may be good guns, but not a HP nor parts exchange).

I have a BHP, a Tisas Stainless and an FEG PJK-9HP and from my not an expert on HP's it's equal to those in every respect. IMO, the rising prices reflect their true value. Yeah the panic buying may have contributed a bit to the rise in selling price but not as much as more glamorous guns.

Good job, OP! I have one too, and it is absolutely my favorite auto to shoot.

These are not knockoffs, apparently. I found a website that was visited by one of the directors from FEG and he dropped so much knowledge it wasnt funny. Including date code charts and the answer to the counterfeit FN guns. But most important he posted a letter that granted licensing rights to make the pistol.

these are licensed copies, not commie knockoffs!

I bought my dad the same model FEG that the OP bought. The only thing I don't like is that the pin that holds in the trigger is loose and will work its way left or right. I'm not sure if it is the pin itself or the holes in the frame.

Is there an easy solution to fix this?

i already tried painting the inside of the right trigger pin hole with nail polish. (unsuccessful)
Some people recommend peening the trigger pin hole on the right side of the frame to deal with a loose trigger pin.
Others recommend buying a MkIII pin because it will be slightly thicker.

These guys make a unique solution but it seems like it might enlarge the LEFT side of the frame. Thoughts?

Never had that issue with my FEG. I'm sure a smith could fix it easily enough.

Mine will walk off center but not out of the frame. If it gets loose on one side, the tension from the other side holds it in place. You can flatten both ends to keep it from walking out by putting the pin in place, placing the gun on its side so JUST the pin face is on top of a hard punch head, then use a punch and brass mallet GENTLY on the other side (facing up) to mushroom both ends. Don't use too much force. It just isn't necessary.

Or, just leave it be and buy a slightly over-sized spare. Odds are you'll never need it, though.
