Gas leaks

No support left under the primer edge from the previous cutting.
A pock marked bolt face will not cause a good primer to vent. The primer will flow into the pock mark some.
A batch of defective Rem 9 1/2 large rifle primers pock marked a few of my bolts. Still have them.

If the primer pocket is loose on a high pressure round, gas will escape between primer and pocket wall. The pin hole in the side of the primer will look the same.

Because the OPs brand of primer is WLR, i suspect they are old & around the time when Win had many defects.

I could be wrong. Changing to a different brand of primer is needed as a test.

Very old Rem 600 on left. 3RingsOfSteel.JPG

After researching the problem and more test firing, this time in an XBolt, I determined the problem was defective primer cup metal. They were burning through from the inside of the primer. I contacted Winchester and they were quick to replace almost 2 full bricks of primers I still have.

Alaska:
The primer pocket edges on that case look like the craters on the moon -- appearn thoroughly destroyed/-
gouged out from multiple firing/burn-throughs. Personally, i've never seen anything quite like it
1. I'd trash those cases.
2. Give us a photo of the bolt face if you can please
