I have a couple of friends that have recently purchased Taurus GX4 handguns.

I was wondering what the group thinks about this inexpensive carry pistol?

I have not shot one yet, but they feel good in my hand.

I haven't shot one, but I've handled a couple.
They feel solid, well made and the trigger is very nice, at least it feels nice when dry firing

I got mine a few months back. I really like it. It's very reliable and easy to shoot accurately. I had it with me today at the range. Shooting at a 3" circle I put 19 of 20 rounds in the circle at 7 yards. One thing if you get the gx4, taurus sells a nice front night sight with a really bright orange ring . The orange is really easy to see during daytime shooting.

My buddy had one a while. It shot well and was fun. It didn't offer any trouble for the two weeks he had it.

He asked the local gunsmith bout it, and he said Taurus were his bread and butter so my buddy traded it.

My personal feeling is that I like the features, feel, and reputation of several other manufacturers’ offerings better than Taurus. Won’t discount that they’re on a roll of late with successful product launches of inexpensive and serviceable pistols, but I won’t be a customer.

I do have a friend who surpassed the 3k round count with his G2c recently and he likes it. Had 1 light strike at the range this week but I believe he swapped some parts including the guide and springs with a LakeLine kit. Could have easily been a high primer considering the crap ammo, as it fired with a second strike.

I paid $20 for 5 raffle tickets for one. Drawing on the 24th. I figure it'll be worth the $20 if I win.

Good Luck sometimes we get lucky. Years back I entered a national contest Springfield was having. I won a XDS 45 which just blew me away.

I was able to shoot my buddy's GX4 yesterday. I was impressed, I would put it up there with the Sig P365. I have shot the SAS version of the Sig.
If the GX4 was stamped with an other name than Taurus it would fetch a lot more money. The build quality is above average in my opinion.

Just wondering how Tuarus will screw the customer if there are any issues, lawsuits, or recalls.

Garbage company, don't care if they offered the best gun in the world. Go with a company that won't steal from you.

They get good reviews, and the price is right. Made in the states, and by most accounts quality improved in recent years. I am not a fan of recent styles that put sharp corners and angles on pocket sized pistols, but aesthetics aside, it's good to have options at affordable prices.

I'm a customer. Don't think I've been screwed yet. Had a little trouble with my g3c to start but it's worked out ok. Same with my Beretta. Don't think Taurus is the first with lawsuits and recalls.

Only can go by my own experience….
1.5 K through mine …zero hiccups.. better stock trigger than any of my Glocks

I like these New G3 and G4 pistols. Looks like they dish out the side of the chamber. Any ideas why? Doesnt seem like it would be a weight cutting feature considering how blocky it looks.

After all the praise and complaints no aired in this thread I still rely on what I read at the Taurus forum. Many work fine some do not. That is true of Ruger pistols (my choice). The difference is if my Ruger is bad, Ruger fixes it or replaces it quickly. You can’t say that about Taurus.

Thats an outdated mentality....none of that really matters anymore. Reliability... Durability...blah, blah. What does matter is...Can you mount a TV on the slide? also.... Is there a flat faced 2 pound trigger available?

I am interested in the G4 but it needs a little more time to be vetted. So does the Ruger for that matter. I am tired of being a betta tester for these major companies. Small startups I can understand and support anyways (sccy, FMK, diamonback etc. etc. .) When these mega manufacturers dont properly test before a new release its really irritating. Taurus also has a nasty habit of discontinueing models even once they are perfected. I still trust Beretta and HK to test fully before release but thats about it.

I do trust the G2 and G3 though. I have probably recommened those models more than any other the last couple years for a nice shooter or carry gun that will run out of the box (s&w SD series is up there as well) If the G4 live up to those I will buy a couple.

be nice if all these new subcompacts on the market were offered with 380 conversions. Its not that hard.

gotta say... I really like the looks of most of the new Taurus. G4 looks like a hybrid of the grendel p12 and a Sardius Sd9. Not really pretty but kind of cool looking. Thats just looks though. 1,500 rounds out of the box without a major or minor component failure is a good sign for a subcompact in a pretty powerful round.
