Has been a while since I went shopping for pellets, and modern era offering leaves me scratching my head.

Have one gun that does best with Beeman Trophy....in 7.9 grain. Another that prefers to spit out Crosman Premier lite.....also 7.9. Unfortunately, these are both discontinued.

What are modern era replacements for these.....or the old Beeman FTS or JSB Exacts in the lighter weights?

Wondering if the modern era rifles....heavy springers and PCP's all shoot heavy pellets and these were dropped for lack of interest?

Beeman Field Target Special (FTS) pellets were rebadged H&N Field Target Trophy;
H&N still makes FTT pellets; they are very popular. I think that Hatsan domed
pellets are rebadged FTT.

I hated to see the Crosman Premier (in the box) discontinued, but many have reported that the quality of them had slipped.

If you get a good batch, some guns
that prefer Premier pellets also like Crosman Premier Hollow Point; Walmart sells them at a very good price.

RWS sells very well made pellets, try Superdomes. Some guns love them, but their ballistic coefficient is rather low. Many guns shoot the heavy-ish RWS Supermag wadcutters
very accurately, but their BC is also low.

I was using the domed Crosman pellets sold 1250 to a box. Die stamp B. Tried those from Walmart and not the same. More like a splatter than a group.

Internet seems to think Crosman company was sold and new owners dropped these, which was a staple. If they didn't want to make the products, why buy the company? To run it into the ground? Also hard to believe they could not duplicate the former quality. How was it they used to be able to make a good product, but no longer can? Should be getting better, not worse.

May have solved my problem short term.......found a box of what is supposed to be NOS on ebay. Will see.

Also good to know about the H&N. As I recall, all Beeman pellets were rebranded H&N all along.

BTW, my selection of pellets came after purchase of a sampler pack from Straight Shooters. Amazing the variety of pellets out there, and out of all of them, only a couple perform as they do. As close to inexplicable magic as anything I've run across.

If you are looking for something in the 7.9 weight range H&N makes a 7.87 grain wadcutter called Match Light and JSB and Air Arms (rebranded JSB) have a 7.87 grain domed. My three springers like all three of those.
