Combat Commander or CZ 75B Retro?

I had a Colt Combat Commander 9mm, maybe early 80's, sorry I ever sold it

As much as I love 1911's, the cz was made for 9mm. For range use...I'd look for an SAO cz75, or just a standard cz75, put some thin grips on it

Considering I have been a Colt 1911 aficionado for most of my life I would probably opt for the 9mm. Combat Commander. Easy to use, it's a great size and feels just right in my hand.

The CZ75 has a marvelous grip frame that is reminiscent of the Browning Hi-Power, one of the most ergonomic grip designs of all time. I also like that it can b carried in Condition One with a frame mounted thumb safety as I have a problem sometimes being able to reach the trigger when it's in DA mode.

I have both and the commander is easier to conceal. It's a Ruger light weight 1911 and it's much lighter than the Cz, granted 10 rds rather than 16 but 1 spare mag solves that.

Since were talking 9mm I would go with the Cz75B.

But of the best answer would be get both.

For strictly range use?

In the immortal words of the legendary Sleepy Joe: "C'mon, man!" for range use only, it's GOTTA be the platform with the best trigger. As much as I like the CZ-75s, I'm never gonna pretend they come with good triggers.

So guess what my answer would be... And despite what some may say, you have nothing to fear should you elect to buy a recent production Colt 1911.

Because CZ will fix it for them
Honestly I'd have no hesitation buying a new Colt if I were in the market for one.

I've never shot a CZ handgun, so I can't speak to that experience. I will have to admit being further biased by the fact that every handgun I currently own is a 1911 or direct derivative (I'm kind of a trigger snob)
But both is never a bad answer.
