209 Primers, Good or Bad?

A little high on the price, but generally reliable primers whose brisance is in-between Remington STS and Cheddite. They are, however, a European primer, so the OD is slightly larger then American brands...so if you use them in American-made hulls it will enlarge the primer pocket.
.0245” look like 209 range from .0240-.0245

BP, as in black powder?

1000 209 primers would be a life time supply.
yep! Black Powder!

I got a guy who’s getting out of BP and into gun games. We are going to do some trading. Hopefully he has 209 and real BP to trade, because I have tons of SPP and bullets

It's not hard to run through half a flat in a morning if you shoot light loads and round balls. I find 209 primers to be much easier than caps as my fingers have lost a little dexterity.

excited to try something new

I’d be driving an inline at full throttle with lots of t7. I’m more likely to plink with a flintlock.

Easier to find t7 locally than black especially if using 209 priming

It's either addictive or hated. Depends if you like to make haste slowly.
If you're running a fast twist 50. Try 50 grains of powder and a patched round ball. If it's not accurate. Drop 5 grains and try again. In my inline it prints within half an inch of my hunting load at 100 yards.
You'll find most black powder loads shoot the same at 50-100 yards.

why I used musket caps for so long until 209 was legal locally. Just easier to deal with.

I tried black powder revolver and that was a BLAST! then the old guy said try this… pulls out a flint lock! that was AMAZING.

like I said, really want to try something new!

Here what surprise me with the flint lock. Super accurate at 50 yards.

Oh, you are SO going to enjoy that!
I’ve reduced my black powder rifles to a trio of T/C’s in .32, .36, and.45, all Cherokee patterns.
The 50/50 load has a lot going for it.
