Hello guys, here again with another home brew review this time we're diving into the aks so this one here this is from zastava they are Serbian made aks, this is the Zpap 92 so we're talking an ak pistol 762x39. A fire breather if you ask me. A little overview of the gun what you get out of the box it is a 10 inch barreled ak pistol, it does not come with any kind of brace or anything on the rear end so you do have to furnish that yourself.

I'll talk a little about what i've chosen here on mine. It does however come with a picatinny rail on the rear as well as a picatinny rail installed on the dust cover so you do have some good options for braces as well as of course easy installation of your optic of choice, you get a little bit different break here, a traditional ak booster, there one 30 round magazine with the last round bolt hold open. It is a Yugo pattern ak so it does have some proprietary furniture, however it is a 1.5 millimeter thick receiver so that's RPK thick receiver and it also has an RPK trunnion to go along with that. Then pairing it with a RPK 75rd drum magazine, cold hammer forged and chrome lined barrel from Serbia. So that tells you that this gun's made really well, it's going to last a good long time, and is over built for something like this.

Fit and finish it nicely with a set of in this case chocolate brown wood, a nice set of Krinkov style sights and it is a hinged dust cover so it has a pretty good job of holding zero here so far that's the gun itself again a great base package. It certainly requires some accessories to really turn it into a functional gun so with that being said let's talk a little about what I’ve done here.

The biggest one of course is the brace system this is from SB-Tactical, this is their left folding 1913 brace. This means that you still have draco mode available on this when you need it but of course have a brace to stabilize the gun better during accelerated fire, other accessories i've got is the BARS Red rod from Kalashnikov-USA.

I left the top and bottom wood alone on it, kind of give it a little old-school vibe. I’m going to add the tango down or us palm grip. This is what I use on the ak-103 and I love how it feels. They're the same thing so that kind of rounds out the accessory for now. There are plenty of other options for accessories and of course you can keep it all classic and do some nice wood or something along those lines if that's more your flavor. 762x39 is a great cartridge choice for something short like this, the round itself is a little happier in these very short barrels like this than especially a 556. Kind of like that 300 blackout that we love out of our ar so theory-wise it still performs really well. you get great terminal performance here, it hits hard 762x39 always is known for and just a really cool little backpack set up there for self defense, camping, hunting or a truck gun oriented ak in that smaller size.

This is all I have for now, i appreciate you guys tuning in for another THR review and i want to read your comments down below. :D

Thanks again guys

Ive held one of those, they are quite heavy! Quite a bit more than my x39 10" AR pistol. But that translates to robustness!
They do in fact weight a bit more than an AR of the same length, however I’ll put it in the same weight class as a regular AK Rifle The 1.5mm receiver does make a difference. You are absolutely right, it’s built like a tank. It feels like someone got a hold of a RPK and Shrunken it.

i can make it lighter by removing the booster muzzle device which is heavy by itself, put a 20 rounds mag and remove the optic, i will try that configuration to check the recoil and blast signature next time.

Nothing else is important when shopping now for a gun …

Without —-First—- having a Chunk of ammo in the required chambering.

Bulk 308 ammo has gone up from .52/rd to .60/rd in about three weeks…..Not Including tax and shipping. Ordered large amount of .308 weeks ago. The factors don't need to be explained.

308 ammo is significantly more expensive than 7.62x39

WRG:
True. I knew that in 2007 when the gun bug bit (then at age 52) and a year later bought my first SKS, to enjoy more 7.62x39 ammo for the price of a given quantity of .308.

The regret right now is avoiding semi-auto .308s in past years, because of Relative ammo price differences.

Consider this a signal boost for the M92 platform. I got mine in 2015 for about $600.

I purchased one of the short rails that attaches to the RSB as the OPs gun has, however it requires drilling 3 holes in the rear sight tang/top cover and so far I have ruined 3 cobalt drill bits trying to make more than a divot in the unobtainium which that gun is made of. The problem is the welds are directly in line with the locations the holes need to be.

I have given up until I can afford a bigger drill press.
