So im a newbie when it comes to the ak series (always been a pistol guy). So I met up with a guy off Armslist and traded him one of my Glocks and a bunch of mags and accessories +200 for an ATI AT-47. It has a UTG quad rail fore-end with utg rail covers, tritium iron sights, a hogue grip, and a Tapco G2 trigger installed. Also came with 4 Tapco 30rd mags, a cheap AIM Sports 2-7x42 illuminated scope, a nice little Vortex sparc red dot, a no-name bi-pod, and a desert multicam 550 cord sling.. All in a really nice Plano 5 latch hard gun case.

So my two questions, do you think I came out ahead on the deal? (I really dont care one way or the other, would much rather have another AK than another Glock)

And what is the general consensus on the rifles? I've only had one chance to take it to the range and put about 300 rounds thru it. (ran flawlessly) and I know all the technical stuff already, Yugo frame, 1.5mm thick, NON-chrome lined barrel (which I really dont care about anyway, I dont shoot corrosive and im never realistically gonna put 20,000 rounds thru it) Really just looking for some user input from someone who has had one or just shot them alot.

What do you think THR Nation?

And also, any recommendations for a good muzzle brake (14x1 LH threads) that actually works AND looks like something that might be nicknamed the terminator??? :D

I bought a spiked muzzle brake from US Machinegun for my Yugo PAP M92 pistol, that I like quite a bit. It's somewhat large, but the weight balances muzzle rise, and recoil reduction is significant. I would even call the pistol soft-shooting. And it looks great.

Unfortunately, the website doesn't list the same model for your barrel thread.

However, they show a different model that you might be interested in.

I think you did alright. They seem to retail around $550, so with the accessories you got with the rifle, you came out even at minimum.

Congrats and post pics if you have them.

The PWS FSC-47 comp is an easy favorite of mine for the AK.

VERY good muzzle control, and very effective flash suppression in the flash hider portion. I get a golf ball sized flame coming from the comp portion, but it's an excellent comp all the way around.

As for the rifle... Eh, I'd have just sold the Glock and bought a new WASR, but if you're happy with the gun, that's what matters. Scrap the UTG handguard, bipod, and Aim Sports scope, throw a Midwest Industries T1 handguard on there for the SPARC, and you've got a decent little setup. Buy a few good steel surplus mags for it, too.

corton, I think you did good. I also, would rather have another AK than another Glock. I think yours has a milled receiver? I have a milled AK and they really feel more solid than the stamped models to me. Have fun with it!
