And what a nice little rig it is.
Always wanted to get one of these, but of course, revolvers, a ton of centerfires catching my eye thru the years, other commitments I just never got around to grabbing one.
When I seen this stainless TALO beauty offered on the broker for what I was willing to drop, well, I had to have it.
Very tempted to sit here the rest of the evening and let go a box or 2, but I've got some other chores need to be done. Should be a little warmer Sunday afternoon, we'll run a few thru it and see how we go.
Think I'm going to be right happy tho

Very dependable guns. I've got the blued version with dark walnut I bought used in the early 90's. I don't know the round count when I bought it, but I've put at least 10k rds thru it and it is still accurate. The only issues I've ever had with it were due to ammo or aftermarket mags. It has run flawlessly with factory 10rd mags.
I predict you will really enjoy it.:)

20220401_215106.jpg I needed a little something to play with.
I'm gonna teach the missus grandsons how shoot this year, can't let them have all the fun.
Pulled that wee little Ft Worth Arms Woodchucker out from the very depths of a safe tonight. It's my son's, probably ain't been shot in 20 yrs or more. Good start for a couple 7 yr olds. It's gonna be a fun yr for me.
The only bummer out of this whole deal, is my FFL has this gawl darn very nice Super Red, 454, Target Gray, with scope, in the dang case with 2 boxes of ammo ...for a real good price....
I'm thinking about it

That looks very similar to the 10-22 VTR they used to offer. They made them in blue, SS, and with a blue receiver and SS barrel. I have the latter of the 3. My barrel isn't threaded, but otherwise looks the same. Mine is the most accurate unmodified 10-22 I've ever fired. I wish I'd bought a 2nd one when they were available. I may have to look for one of these. Mine has a 20" medium contour target barrel.

Top rifle along with my CZ. The Ruger is at least as accurate.

Bigpower that's a nice 10/22, I like stainless steel, If I'd seen one like that I would have bought it.

I saw this TALO model at a gun show 2 weeks ago and had to buy it.

I have the same scope bigpower has on my 350 Legend, it's a nice scope. I haven't decided if I'm going to put optics on my new 10/22.

They call this one a LVT, or Light Varmint Target. 20", and the barrel is tapered.

You got a fancy one! Lol
Just picked up a new takeoff stock for mine today for a twenty dollar bill, looks new again:)

Tapered, but still a little heavier than a stock barrel. Your new rifle is apparently just a newer version of mine, but with a threaded barrel. Glad to see them making them again and wish they would become a regular production rifle. I like the stock much better than the standard carbine, the 20" medium contour barrel is a good balance of weight without being too heavy.

I believe so. Read lots of old posts here about the model you have and other big barreled 10/22s.
Certainly made it an easy decision for me

Congratulations on the rifle, very classy look I might add. I’ve been fortunate over the years to have owned a few and tinkered with even more. I had just finished the last of several modifications to a Sporter which is likely claimed by my daughter when a friend asked me to have a crack at his Target model. Has me considering a search for juuust one more, for loanin purposes and such. I’ve always admired Ruger for continuing to innovate and grow the 10/22 platform.

I have loved both of mine for at least 20+ years.

#1. my serious hunter/target 10-22 i built, i put it in a corelight synthetic stock, clerk 16" clerk heavy bbl, power customs target hammer, nylon bolt buffer, and for many years had a BSA Sweet. 22 scope with AO that I had sited to 50 & 100 yards. It now wears a Vortex rimfire scope. That rifle could take out prairie dogs to 125 yards or more. I passed it down to my oldest son.

#2 I have a 2nd, original barrel, Choate folding stock, bolt buffer, and Trueglo 2X red dot. i use this for small game, mostly in the mountains with squirrels, thats where i started my boys on hunting. (they've grown now and i cant remember the last time they went out with me). the Trueglo has been a phenomenal scope, never once have i had to re-site it. and the folding choate stock locks up solid with no movement.

the 10-22 is a great all-around gun, if i get some loose change id like to get another and build another serious hunter rifle. i had been pretty much a rimfire guy for 15 years or so, but i had to get into more serious guns due to "the times, they are a changing" thing. in a pinch the 10-22 would be a serviceable home defense gun with larger mag and rounds like CCI Velocitors. Its also a great "meat" gun for small game & if pressed in utter most need a small deer up close. also good for varmints around the property if you have chickens & such. when i was old enough to buy guns i started out as as Marlin man, but when i got my first 10-22 and found it could be modded, i was hooked!

Nice looking rifle. The squirrels in your neighborhood will be getting edgy once the word gets out. My TALO is also s/s, but has a checkered walnut Mannlicher stock. I put a Williams peep sight on it and a few tasty bushytails around here have paid the price.

Ruger makes so many versions of the 10/22, it make my head spin. That one just looks "right." Congratulations on snagging it. Lately have been in the market for a decently accurate 22LR. Thought I'd settled on a CZ457. But this 10/22 custom shop competition popped up & I grabbed it instead.

Finally.....got to rip a few thru it tonight. 12 hour days don't leave a heck of a lot of time, but it sure was nice up here today.
So Dads single six seems to like that Aguila Super Extra, and I've got a haul of it so we started her out with that. Just 50 tonight, 5 at a time. I bore sighted on the weekend, first couple mags to get that dialed in.
The next couple 5s were so so, but as soon as I got 30 down the pipe, things really started to tighten up. The last 3 grouped very well. All pretty much holding just under an inch at 100. I'll call that not too bad for a barrel I didn't lap out of the box and ammo I didn't load .
A few more adjustments and some more seat time and I'll start playing with some other ammunition.
The trigger, while not too bad for factory, ill probably be changing out down the road
Overall, a good pick up. I'm gonna have a lot of fun with the grandsons this yr. Yrs ago I watched these 2 guys at a gravel pit push shotgun shells 90 yrds across the ground using some crazy fat barreled guns. Big magazines, I think they held 50 or so rounds. Asked them what them thar rifles were....highly modified 10/22 Rugers. Always wanted one since then, finally got with the program
Certainly worth the price of admission for me
Cheers
