Interesting write-up about Henry's 25 years in business

I bought one of the .22lr models when they were still in N.J. and commented on their website that I hoped they would expand into center fired guns. Like the article mentions, I got a follow-up email from the owner saying they were already looking in that direction. I thought it was pretty cool to hear from the owner like that.
They are a good company and make good guns.

Their center fire rifles do have a real brass receiver but the .22 rifles are plated Zamak 5, something they call brass-lite or they are painted. I do wish they made a steel or solid brass .22. Heck, I would do 6000/7000 series aluminum forgings with wear bushings but I cannot live with zinc metal.

Who’s that?
The old timers on this board know Oleg as one of the original owners of The High Road. Derek and Oleg went their separate ways back around 2009 or 2010, IIRC.
I find it interesting to see THR members are doing more than just frequenting 2A forums. Gives me hope for the future of the Second Amendment. :)

I had a golden boy about 20 years ago. It was a good solid rifle. The comb was way low. This tells me the rifle was made from a purely aesthetic perspective and not by people who actually were shooters. I took it down a few times cause I shot the doody out of it a few years. When the brass plating started flaking at the screw holes.... I sold it.

That was a nice quick read, and I'm glad I made it to the bottom because it was a good reminder that they send you a nice free catalog along with a couple of decals :D

I probably never would have bought myself a Henry but I got one in 45-70 a couple months back and I couldn't be more excited to shoot it, just need to get a few loading supplies and I'll take it out weekly..... it just beckons me, it's a beautiful rifle and the brass reciever looks fantastic.

Can't wait to get that catalog in the mail.....

I bought myself a .22 Henry bolt gun when I graduated college in 2007. It remains the best bang-for-buck fun long gun I own. Very nice write up. Oleg's talent with words roundly compliment his photography.
