@Splatt513 Good morning and welcome! You sound like our kind of people, and your knowledge and experience should be very useful to our community. I will recommend a review of the THR Primer in the general gun discussions section, and then you may find some expertise in rifle country for the Rifle, M1. Enjoy!

Im not really a "new" member, I originally joined in 2011, but very shortly thereafter, some serious health events concerning my wife took place that took me out of the shooting hobby almost entirely until recently.

I'm 51 years old, married with a son and daughter.

I've been shooting since a young age, going out in the woods with my dad "plinking" since the age of 6-7; a "gun nut" all these years (I know "gun nut" probably isn't a socially acceptable term anymore but...)

I've handloaded all my own pistol ammo since the late '80's and started loading rifle some time in 2010's (I never shot much rifle or shotgun until then; I was mostly preoccupied with handguns all those years prior)

Also been casting and powder coating since around that same time.

I've recently started posting again here (mostly in the"handloading" section) and realized that I never introduced myself; just kinda "came outta left field"

Thanks for letting me participate.
Already interacted with many pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable folks.

Welcome Y-T71! Many of us have had intervals when more pressing matter took us away from our shooting, but it is good to have you back with us. Handloading seems to be one of the more active sections, so I am glad you have gotten some good information and hope you will add your experience to the mix. Thanks for the intro.

Hi all, long time reader, second time poster.

I'm a middle aged Australian, with a small amount of fire arms experience. Mostly shotguns on duck and rabbit, as a supervised teen. Then 22LRs on rabbit, last decade. And on one occasion as a very excited teen, a few handguns. What a day!

I'm not currently shooting, at all. Finances and all that but I do enjoy some guntubers and have been looking for... a more worthwhile forum than the YouTube comments section, haha.

Thank you CoalCrackerAI, what an interesting name. Two questions; what does your name mean and is it appropriate for me to respond to everyone who welcomes me?

I don't wish to clutter up this thread and cause unnessecary work for mods. Cheers.

Hello everyone. Looooooong time reader of THR (~10 years). Never signed up until now. Took a break for a few years from reloading and getting to the target range. Wife and I recently retired. We are planning more trips to the range the mid-weeks when crowds are lower. I have a 40% luv of reloading. 40% luv of firearm history aspects (30-06 sprg, 38 and 44 special. Elmer Keith, John Taffin, etc...), and 20% actually getting out and pulling the trigger at the range.

Hoping to get some lively discussions going in the reloading section on using fast RIFLE powders in the 30-06 for safe mid-level 30-30 class performance.

THR has been a treasure trove of useful information and open discussion that really helps explore all aspects of firearms.

Thank you.

Steve

Sounds like you like to reload.
Welcome to THR!
Some of us are there too.
Get out and SHOOT! (So you can do more reloading.)
As rustcolletor would say, take a look- and-see at the THR Primer and welcome aboard!

My name is Dave& I am retired. Just purchased a late t-series browning hipower witha ringhammer. I need assistance determining it's age. Please help anyone. Thanks

Welcome, Dave. Your best bets at connecting with someone who can help you would be in the handguns:autoloader section or in the research section. This section is just for intros, and thank you for yours. THR primer in the general gun discussion section will give you the basics. I hope you will enjoy your time here.

I've been lurking for a while now reading some hand-loading posts in preparation of firing up a new hand-loading bench. Back in 1990 my ex and I were almost done building a house in a fairly isolated area when the property got burglarized. We got a white German Shepherd dog (Byla) and I picked up a SIG226 at a gun show, which was to be our only gun (yeah right.) Shortly there after, I bought a like new nickel plated Python and a Dillon Square Deal and we were soon shooting 300 rounds a weekend. That all ended in divorce in 2003. In 2007, wife #2 couldn't believe she dated and then married a guy with a NRA sticker in the back window of his pickup, but there was no loading or unloading of ammo till political unrest got her interested in home defense during the first year of the pandemic.

After polishing off decades old ammo (with $6 price tags on 9mm Remington yellow box) as well as slightly younger hand-loads, I bought a case of steel cased Russian which we've been eating our way through. Over the past few weeks, I've cleaned out space for a new loading bench (unfortunately only 20% of the size/space of the previous bench), set up the SDB and unboxed ancient reloading components. While I have numerous reloading manuals, my load notes and my Dillon D-Terminator didn't survive the hiatus so I'm starting from scratch and have enjoyed reviewing this forum for loads for 124 gr JRN. Back in the day, we didn't have forums, only news groups and the participation was fairly low so I'm looking forward to more reading and sharing here.

Welcome, d2shark! We hope you will enjoy your time here. Please check out THR primer in the general gun discussions section and visit whatever sections strike your fancy. Thank you for the introduction.

Hi. new member here but have been a few other gun forums for a while. I have only been a gun owner for about two years. I started with shotguns for HD but soon migrated to Trap shooting. Now I have a nice collection of Trap and HD 12gauge. I also have three hand guns: S&W 686 Competitor, S&W 617, and a CZ75-SP-01. I am doing a fair amount of hand loading: MEC 9000 and 600 for shotshell and a MEC press for 38spl, 357, and 9mm. Most of my questions these days are about handgun bullets and loads.

Welcome to THR, rhodesengr! You should feel right at home here, and will find a lot of information in the reloading, handguns and competition sections. Please check out the THR primer in the general gun discussions section and settle in.
