Shooting Stretch Armstrong

My brother and I got one each for christmas one year. Neither lasted a week.....

My brother got one for his birthday, and i made the mistake of punching it to see if i could dent it. DAMN that hurt.
I remember hardly a thing about last week, but I can recall a painful experience from almost fifty years ago. Those days are worth remembering.

One thing Old Stretchy didn't stand up to in my house was a "Riveton" gun. Put a hole right in his belly.

"Riveton" was a late-seventies "build-it"-type play set that involved fastening parts together with rubber "rivets". These rivets were placed on the end of the gun, stretched by pulling back on the "trigger", and inserted into holes in the parts. When the trigger was released, the rivet resumed its normal, thicker shape, holding the parts together. The metal rod that held the rivet during stretching easily pierced Mr. Armstrong when the gun was pressed into his belly and actuated.
