After taking a great deal of time collecting primers, brass, powder, boolits, press parts and research I finally got around to loading rifle rounds. I'm posting this just to say what a satisfying reloading experience it's been. The prep work was interesting and the resulting very uniform cases are pretty cool to see and kinda confidence inspiring. Load workup was easy, although I've probably done 100s of load workups for pistols. I did all the work on a single stage press which was also very satisfying.
All and all a good experience and well worth repeating.

With rifle ammo reloading there is some more prep work to the brass each time but I think the end result is worth it. I started with 30-30, and the almost immediatly went on to 308. Now I reload for 20 different rifle rounds. Wringing the best accuracy out of your rifle will always be a good feeling too.

LOL be careful or soon you will be looking at a 6.5 Creedmore. I basically want to be able to load an accurate round for every centerfire I own in case we ever get restricted on purchasing ammo or supplies dry up. That means dies, propellant, and molds for everything. Then I work up good data while things are aplenty. Helps a lot when shortages hit.

After at least a 40 year break from loading metalica, I resumed about a year and a half ago......for this exact reason. Three years ago, shelves were full of ammo of anything you wanted. One year later, same shelves were stripped bare and stayed that way for the next year. Asked myself what would I do if this became permanent? Solution was to be able to roll my own......which I can now do. As good or better than factory and no worries what happens at the store shelves. Self reliance is a wonderful thing.
