We had a few like that in my area. They're not in business any more.

I would not expect it to be an issue unless a gun brought in for repair or trade was loaded, or someone needed to play with their carry gun.
It has nothing to do with 2A. It has everything to do with safety of customers and staff from idiots.

You guys must live in some strange places.
I've never been in a LGS where a either open carried or CC pistol holstered was an issue.
Now if you're bringing in a cased gun for modification or to try and sell/trade, yea they expect that to be unloaded.
As for the folks here mentioning a customer pulling out a holstered side arm to "show people" or for any other reason, that wouldn't go over well in any of the LGS's I frequent. IE, they would at a minimum be drawn on by store employees.

The one thing I haven't seen mentioned is that Antis send people to retailers with all the "no carry" materials and sell them on how it is in the owners best interest to post the operation. OTOH, our side if too lazy/stupid to do the same to counter these folks and leaves it up to us to do the work by telling the owner that they've been hornswaggled.
When you see a business posted against carry, be polite, ask for the manager, ask who owns the business, ask if they had a couple of very clean cut presentable people come by and persuade them they needed to post the place. Then explain to them that this is a common and well known tactic from "Big Gun Control" that cares nothing about the business it will lose for the owner.

Not a "Law" just store policy .
When I had a engineering business I posted a sign that said " Open or Concealed Carry allowed , permitted and encouraged ... come on in ." ... My business ... my policy !

I work in a pawn shop that deals in firearms. We have a sign that says "No firearms" and what that means is "No firearms about which we are unaware". The more you add to a sign, the less likely someone is to read it.
Also, an unloaded firearm is much less likely to have an AD than a loaded one. I have had a Glock handed to me for pawn, magazine out and empty, gun had a round in the chamber, and as we all know a Glock fires just fine with magazine removed. Had I not done my due diligence and cleared the weapon as soon as it was in my hands there was a great potential for ooopsies.
Just because someone has the right to carry a weapon doesn't mean they have any clue how to handle it. We'd rather not be accidentally shot. If that bothers someone to the point where they don't want to come in my store, ah well.

Had a customer call and say they couldn't figure out how to unload his shotgun (Mossberg 500A) as it was jammed or something.
I pushed the release lever, racked it a few times running all the shells out of it and handed it back with his ammo safely bagged. He felt embarrassed but we smiled and said no big deal, feel free to call us if you have any other issues.
He's now a good, knowledgeable customer who reads all the instruction manuals.

We get the same thing at gun shows here in Mass. You cannot CCW at the gun show and they have LEs at a table that will take your mag and ammo until you leave. As I say to anyone asking this kind of question, Concealed means Concealed. What they don't know wont hurt them.

As many others have pointed out, it's more for the non-functional gun owners who bring loaded guns in to sell, have worked on, or just show it off.
The last shop I worked in, we had a sign, we tacked $50 on to your repair if you brought it in loaded unless it couldn't be unloaded without complete disassembly. Loaded guns brought in for sale, no sale, handed right back to them.

Exactly. My previously mentioned gun store has a mason jar on the counter of all the rounds that have come out of "unloaded" firearms that have come in for sale or being worked on by the gunsmith. Every shop I have ever been into, except one, says the unloaded firearm policy doesn't apply to holstered carry weapons.
The one that did, has metal detectors at the door and employees zip tying the actions of every firearm that comes in the door. Rifle in a case? Zip tie through the action. Weapon in a holster? Unloaded and zip tie through the action. The employees also carry empty firearms but without zip ties. That is a special case gun store that I no longer visit for many reasons.

One of my local stores has a sign that says "chamber flags required." I took in an AK 47M to trade and realized when I opened the case that I didn't have a flag. I apologized to the clerk, who knows me, and he said "No worries, that just for the idiots."
Having been flagged repeatedly by customers, clerks, and looky loos at gun shows, I have no objection whatever to proactive safety requirements. Like no gun zones, the signs are no guarantee against accidents, but are a good start.
