Per title. There is a MAC gunshow in KC this weekend. Anybody ever been to one? Worth it? Or nah?

I found this online: "MAC Shows LLC has gun shows in Kansas & Missouri & Iowa & Nevada & Oklahoma & California & Nebraska."
So, probably not a fly-by-night promoter.
Does not list number of tables at the venue.

Question: Have they bought any billboards or radio ads to your knowledge?

I don’t think they are fly-by-night either, but I haven’t seen any billboards or other ads-I’ve had my head down going to work and back. May be worth the door fee just to say I’ve seen what they have.

I can tell you the ones put on by RK shows that where up by the airport were a waste of 10 bucks.

Lived in overland park for 12 years, left in 2015, never heard of the MAC promotion.

Aw, durn. Was hoping that one would be a decent show. That’s coming up on the 20th at the expo center, and was gonna go to that one no matter what.

Agreed..about the only thing I find interesting there is the beef jerky stand. I've never heard of MAC either.

The only time I hit the KC show is after making an order with the Black Oaks guy for powder & primers because it saves me a trip to St. Joe. Now I don't even do that as:

A. He's out of everything
B. I shoot IDPA in St. Joe and one of the guys will pick the stuff up for me and deliver to the match.

One thing about the RK shows, being that they where in Missouri, and I a resident of Kansas you're limited to what you can buy.

The overwhelming majority of the dealers are MO dealers. The few times I found something I wanted I would have to find a KS dealer, and they stay home. The one person I found wanted 100 bucks to do a transfer.

Kinda weird, in Overland Park within a 30 min radius I had 12 gun stores, 4 indoor ranges, 1 outdoor range but the gun shows sucked.
Here in Wisconsin I got to drive 45 mins to get to gun store but the gun shows are pretty good.

Which can be happenstance. I was on the way to my appointment with the retina doc today, and saw a billboard for the smaller Premiere show I'm going to, tomorrow. That was an electronic "rotating" billboard, so it was luck-of-the-draw that I saw it. Equally lucky I heard the 15 second radio spot, too.

i am in overland park on 95th and metcalf. I have a lot of gun stores to hit, apparently.

i dont think i’ll be a serious buyer for a gun at this show. This will be a lay-of-the-land deal, I guess, and maybe check out parts/ammo/knives as available.

Good, thank you. Maybe you could come down to the RK Show in Springfield, Missouri on August 13-14 and compare them. I will attend on the 13th and allow my favorite S&W pusher to tempt me one more time!

I like that idea!

Too bad Casper's in Springfield will still be closed for their move. It'd be a good place to meet for lunch. :)

I like this idea too. Sounds like I have plenty to do on weekends when I’m not in Houston!

I was just up the road about 2 blocks.
97th and Lamar.

I don't miss much about KC, but I miss Olathe gun store and jack stacks. You could smell the BBQ cooking coming from 95th and Metcalf.

There is a decent indoor range not far from the Ford plant, can't recall what it was called. But they had a huge selection of rental guns to try out. That place saved me a ton of money in bad choices.

Parma woods over by Parkville, outdoor range run by MO dnr. 3 dollars per hour plus they provide the targets. Was just there in April.

I have attended a couple of the MAC shows on the eastern side of Mo.
The Mac shows are about the same as the RK shows as far as I can tell.
They are both a bit light on the older/oddball items that seem to catch my interest but I've occasionally run across something.

Dad and I did ONE RK show here in OKC and it was garbage as far as sales go and foot traffic was very low as well... I agree with Chevelle on that note.

I've attended several RK shows. They have numerous pistol vendors; most carrying the same guns. They used to have a few reloading and ammo vendors, but not so much any more. I find them mostly boring these days. Still, for $10 and free parking, it beats mowing the lawn or watching TV. Occasionally, some decently priced used guns show up. One recent RK show there was a guy selling Buck knives. He had probably a hundred of them that he inherited and had culled the ones he wanted. The remainder was sold at well below market price. He would ask you to make an offer, so I offered 50% of retail and walked away with two fine knives for a 50% discount. Few years ago, a couple were selling all their reloading inventory from their going-out-of-business sale. I bought a bunch of powder at bargain prices. I'm still using it years later. Ya just never know what is going to show up.
