Off-Topic Narrative in Which Two Old Men Haggle without Haggling
The first time I saw it was at the LGS four or five months back. I hadn't been there in a while. It already looked sad and lonely. I already have the same pistol in polymer (PM40), and I like it, but it's very light. I have trouble shooting it with the flush mag, due to my XXL hands and overall poor shooting practices. When I saw the MK40 I thought, "That heavy steel thing would be pretty easy to shoot." I asked about it, but didn't say much. The tag said $795 (used), so that little pistol was going to sit there for a while. It's an expensive model, but it's not a popular model, if you get what I'm saying. It tried to give me the eye, but I looked away.
I saw it a few more times. I smiled at it and chatted with the owner in front of it. I never looked it directly in the eye or asked to hold it. That was the pro move, right there. Don't put your hand on them unless you really mean it.
Today I had a great morning, including a very pleasant range trip with a good friend. On the way home I drove a couple of streets out of my way to say hello at the LGS. I greeted the owner, an old friend, and asked after his family. He did likewise. Then I tested which way the wind was blowing. "How's business been?" I asked.
Well he hadn't sold jack today and was kind of glum about that. He was ringing up a couple of FFL fees that were going real slow. I approached the Kahr from the side. I could just see it from the corner of my eye. It winked at me.
When my friend happened to pass by I commented, "Wow, you still have that thing in here?" Then I pretended to be surprised by the price. "Holy cow, no wonder it's still here!" My acting skills were honed to a keen edge by 29 years of lying to young people in a classroom.
My friend hates to have things sitting around on his shelves and not moving. He really does not like that at all. He doesn't believe my BS acting "skills" any more than my students used to, but he knows that I will take a orphan off him if I like it and he just wants to get out from under the thing. Plus he had an ace up his sleeve. "Feel this thing," he told me, handing me the pistol.
Yeah. That was the pro move on his part. Let them handle the goods, especially if the goods are very nice. The trigger was silk. The pistol was nice and heavy, and it pointed well. Man that trigger was nice. My friend saw the look on my face. "Hang on. Let me make your day," he said. He looked up the tag on his PC, then he walked up. "Sit down and hold your heart," he told me. "$425, right now today."
I know by his face and voice when he's offering me a solid deal on a pistol no one else wants, so I just politely got my wallet out without haggling.

The Actual Pistol
It's small DAO steel-framed single-stack pistol in 40 S&W. Mine is a "fancy model" (Elite 03) with supposedly nicer finish, beveled mag well, and polished feed ramp. It seems to have been made in 2006.
It was shot a fair amount, but not a whole lot. The trigger and action are silk. I like the sights. Fit and finish are nice. It was well cared for. Came with one 5-round flush mag and two 6-round extended mags.
I used the lighter polymer model of the same pistol (PM40) for carry in the bib pocket of overalls or in a coat pocket a few times, before I decided against it. This steel version should be better for that - much easier to shoot with the flush mag. I already have a couple of pocket holsters for it.
Some people don't like the Kahr trigger; some people like it a lot. I like it a lot, maybe because I enjoy DA revolvers so much.
Do y'all have any Kahrs to show? This one could get lonely again. Have you really liked your Kahrs? Really disliked them? Is there any ammo they love or hate? Do you have a really cool holster for it? Did it save your life that one night in that house of ill repute in Paris? Pitch on in.
