Mine finally arrived yesterday. LGS had to order the sort of silver version from his distributer and they showed to be in stock. It must have traveled by stagecoach as it took 3 weeks for it to make it from Shreveport, LA across TX and 18 miles into NM.

The loading gate is relatively easy to open and the trigger is nice right out of the box. I will go through my grip box and see what I have to replace the cheesy plastic grips later today plus clean and lube it as necessary. Shooting it will come sometime next week as I am currently taking an antibiotic that makes you NOT want to be out in direct sunlight.

I wonder if they revised the loading gate to be smoother. Mine took some force to open, as does the stainless single six gate i fitted to it.

But yes, the trigger on mine was great right out of the box: lighter than all five of my single sixes.

I just got done with one of those vampire antibiotics too.

Well, fooey. Out of 7 sets of grips none will fit the wrangle correctly. All leave about 3/32" of the frame hanging out. I kind of want black grips on it and I have found some on the internet. My Scots DNA is having a tough time over having to pay over half what the gun cost for the nice ones though. I guess I'll make do with what it has for a time until I can find the correct material to make a set.

I found no sign of lubrication at all so everything I could get to got a bit of Mobil 1 and it is smoother working. Just out of curiosity I did the hammer spring trick while I had the grips off. The trigger became really nice but since I am going to let kids shoot it I put the spring back in place.

I took the last of the antibiotics this morning and should be able to enjoy direct sunlight by the middle of the coming week.

Enjoy direct sunlight isnt in my vocabulary during the summer lol!

I too tried taking one leg of the hammer spring off its notch, but didnt really find it made much difference.

Despite the global warming hysteria we have enjoyed a rather cool last three weeks and it's forecast to continue through next week. Mid 80's and even some mid 70's have been nice instead of the mid 90's and up that is normal. We even got a little dab of rain that brought us to about a third of what is a normal year. I haven't been able to make it to the range for over a month though.

I ordered the Ruger Blackhawk grips for my Wrangler.
Fits perfectly

A nickel cerakote birds head called my bluff today at the LGS. I am not a revolver guy, but I like the rounded grip, shorter barrel and almost every 22LR handgun under the sun, so I never really had a chance. I grew up with a flat gate single six that Dad had taken in exchange for work done, and I had picked up a birds head Rough Rider with somewhat longer barrel that I enjoyed shooting. I avoid Rugers early in the production cycle, but this locked up tight, loading gate worked well and it had a good trigger. I am anxious to function test it, and will likely be looking to upgrade grips soon thereafter. Sights are also going to need contrast.

Advice and warnings are welcome. I will report back after function check and comparison with the RR.
