I found a half pound of Win. AutoComp powder that I had bought in 2017. I can always use some more 9mm loads.

Green Dot is my go-to 9mm powder but GD is kinda scarce around here.

Anyone got a favorite AutoComp load for 9mm and a 124 FMJ bullet? Range loads; nothing too hot. I'm looking for reliability over fine accuracy.

Ask the thread “Data Request” they got all the answers!!!

I use 4.7 gr under a Lee 356-120TC. Maybe work up from 4.4 until you find reliability.

5.0 under a 115 grain FMJ (not plated) over LC case and a Murom SPP. I've still got about 5 lbs of the stuff from 2015 that I can't seem to get rid of - it's multiplying in the cabinet when the door is closed.....

I've found it a good, efficient powder in 9mm. I did work a 124 grain load just following Hodg online data. I believe I was a couple tenths under max, and it still cycled my fussy FM90 "high power". Careful, you'll probably prefer it to Green Dot, which is a good thing as it's been relatively available lately.

I will probably be converting to this powder once my supply of random impulse buys is depleted. I prefer it to Unique, HP38 and HS-6 in this caliber.

How does one deplete those? I'm trying to commit to one powder now, but it's tough with random jugs around.

Autocomp is available here, but I've sorta settled on Silhouette and HS-6. Might be worth a try. Can I get it in one ounce bags for testing purposes?

Hodgdon has the answers, but heres a copy from their website

Winchester AutoComp
OAL 1.090"
Min 4.7gr 1,055fps 28,900 PSI
Max 5.2gr 1,120fps 33,300 PS
Based a on a Sierra 125 FMJ which is close enough. AutoComp is a solid powder and will be drama free.

I just bought my first pound - based on recommendations here for a good .32H&R Mag powder in a compensated Taurus snubby - and went straight to the Hodgdon's website for recommended loads. Good info but not enough so I checked my library of manuals and found more in the Lyman's Pistol and Revolver 3rd Ed. with both lead and jacketed ideas. Autocomp is a newer powder, not a rebranded older powder, so it may take a pound or two to get to know it's personality.

One thing to note: Autocomp is formulated to produce excess high-speed gas to power a compensator in self-loading pistols. It IS going to have a lot of blast at the muzzle and a long gas trail but not as much flash. Expect more muzzle rise in an uncompensated pistol.

I loaded up a batch using 4.5 grains and they worked perfectly. Thanks guys.
Also, GeoDude, you were right about the difference between AutoComp and Green Dot.
Excellent! Glad it worked out. I am still waiting to try my .32H&R load.

Just use whatever the max data is for your projectile and powder combo.

I don't reduce pistol loads, full bore loads and properly sized bullets have delivered wonderful accuracy for me.
