Year back an old S&W Model 1902 .38 Special came into my hands. I was pretty sad, but I worked it up as a 3" and carried it for a while, but it's an old gun and was developing some issues. I replaced it with a 1949-vintage M&P. This week a gunsmith friend shared a project, and I busted the old girl our and went to work. Solved the small issues, slicked up the trigger a tad more, bobbed the barrel and fabricated and mounted a new front sight. The hammer was already bobbed and the trigger-guard relieved on the right side. I modified the custom Goncalo Alves grips to fit the new look and voila! New life for an old gun.

Double-action pull is a slick 6-1/2 lbs., single action is clean and breaks at 1-3/4 lbs. (not that I ever fire it single-action.) I was planning a ball-detent on the crane, but it genuinely doesn't seem to need one. I probably still will, but there's no urgency.
