Are you talking about the PDX1's shotshells patterning poorly in general, or just .410 PDX1's?
I have only tried the .410 PDX1 shells. And no they do not pattern near as well as 00 or 000 buckshot.

And this is an issue why?One problem with slugs in .410 is that the majority of barrels in that caliber are full choked.
410 slug and white tail seems best combined when using a gun and bow range shot.
Full chokes and slugs don't go together like peas and carrots. And this is an issue why?
That would be unlikely unless it was a very thin barrel and full or poor metal. ie I would not shoot slugs through a full choke on an old double gun with a full choke but my grampa put heaps of slugs through his old full choke Win 1897 (1930's vintage) and never hurt it. Most slugs are nearly pure lead and will safely swag through a fixed full choke with no damage. There are exceptions.Full chokes and slugs don't go together like peas and carrots.
I'm not an expert.
However...having hunted in a shotgun/slug only state for 45 years I do have some experience in the matter.
Slugs are generally inaccurate through a full choke.
I saw a beautiful browning 16ga auto-5 with a 10 inch lengthwise Crack in the muzzle end of the barrel that was positively made by slugs through a full choke.
