for those that reload for 32 mag, was trying to make dummy rounds for fit, and function in my revolver and they great, but when I look at the top of the case, and is all new star line brass, where the case mouth touches the bullet, seems to be putting a crimp ring at the top of the case. Is this normal? It does this on every case. I have never loaded this cartridge before, and If I new how to post it on here I would

Factory crimp is needed IF you are loading near MAX.

You can back die off 1/4 turn and use taper crimp for lighter loads.

backed off like you said, and adjusted seating and everything now looks normal. will reload and let you know
Teeny cases like the .32 H&R dont take much powder to overcharge, nor does it take much to squish the cases when crimping. (I learned that after starting out years ago on larger bore rounds.)

Nice and easy on the crimp makes for some great shooting fun with your .32

Stay safe.

What OAL are you seating to? I’ve used the Acme 100 grain coated bullets and seat to 1.315” so that all of the lube grooves are inside the case.

I have a dial caliper set to the total max over all length, and seat the bullets so I can see light between the top of the seated bullets and the max over all length, then after making 4 dummy rounds at that length, put them in the cylinder and check to see (a) the fit, (b) test the cylinder, trigger, and hammer , to make sure all functions , now all I should have to do is load

1.8 grains of BE is pretty light for anything 32 mag. Sounds more like a 32 S&W Long load.

Yea, 1.8 grains of BE will be a target type load, likely at 700-750 fps. It'll be fun. I use that charge for a Colt revolver in .32 S&W long with wadcutters for an accurate target cartridge.

Use a medium burn powder for higher end 'magnum' performance...I like Accurate #5 for my .327 Ruger SP101. I don't really shoot many full boat .327 mag loads...a bit snappy. I shoot all my .32 at paper.

But these 32 are really small. my lyman cast bullet loading info has a cast 100 grain round nose with 1.8 grains of bullseye powder

Seems with 1.8 grs of powder the bullet would be a good light plinking load. I shoot a 100 gr hard cast bullet out of my single six pushed by 10 grs of H100/W296.for around 1200 FPS.

Problem here right now is finding different powders. I have universal, unique, bullseye, and CFE pistol powder. Went to one of the gun shops here last week and they had a very limited supply of powder

^^^^^^^

It is not a matter of "what is best for ......?"

It is a matter of "what is in stock that can make what I need."

The good news, you might an awesome powder that you had never considered.

I didn’t know they made other powders! Seriously though Universal, Bullseye and Unique are all good to make nice accurate ammo in .32 Anything! My preference is Unique.

My personal plinking load is 2.5 Grains of Unique under a 100 Grain RimRock SWC. Light, clean and accurate. If you want super light just save up some .32 Long cases and use the same powders. 700 fps 100 Grain .32 Long loads are just so sweet to shoot. A pound of powder will make 2500 rounds.

I will load as much as 4.0 gr Unique under a similar 100 gr bullet for my Ruger Single Six. Tons of fun with that one.

Stay safe..

Absolutely, plenty of room there. The 2.5 is just enough pressure to stay clean and burn correctly with Unique. That caliber offers a bunch of versatility. It’s a lot of fun to load for.
