I bought a Savage 11 action and barrel only. Will this action take either a blind magazine or detachable mag or only one or the other?

I have to buy a stock and all the screws so I need to know. What size mounting screws do I need, does anyone know?

It has the Accutrigger with bottom bolt release.
Thanks

Most of the models I know (and can find online) with a bottom bolt release are magazine fed.

As far as stocks or chassis go, you will need to measure the distance between the action screws. The older stagger feed models are 4.275" and the newer center feed models are 4.400". It will make a difference as to which stock will fit correctly.

The action screws themselves are 1/4" 28. The lengths needed will again be determined by what stock you use.

The magwell cut shows this isn’t a staggerfeed action. There are no slots for the mag box to lock into - this is a centerfeed action (also, I don’t recall exactly, but weren’t the SF’s all over by the time the bottom bolt release came about?).

I’m also not exactly certain, but I believe there’s no difference between the factory dbm’s and the center feed actions - the bottom metal has the mag stop in the dbm’s, and there’s a retaining clip in the stock for blind mag boxes… BUT… I know some guys converting to other dbm’s have had to add a mag stop to the action (which this obviously does not have), otherwise upward pressure on the mag would cause it to crash the bolt. So what DBM set up are you seeking?

I didn't think that the bottom bolt release models used the stagger feed blind mags but I wasn't 100% sure. And that is why I mentioned the differences in the action screw spacing.

Here is a good thread on action screw spacing on Savage Shooters forum https://www.savageshooters.com/content.php?128-Savage-Action-Lengths

The first and second generation short actions both use the stagger feed while the third generation uses the center feed. The new 110 short action rifles are the same as the third gen rifles other than the number designation.

The action screw spacing was changed on the third generation to make room for the hinged floor plate and the mag release for the detachable magazines.
