Super Blackhawk! thoughts

I love Blackhawks, own two so far a 6.5” in 41mag and a 5.5” flattop in 44spl. Hoping to find a 4 5/8ths? in 357 tomorrow when I go into town. My arthritis is getting worse so I’m looking for a single action to shoot 38spl from. That said if I found a 44mag tomorrow for the right price, well….sorry hands and wrists your going to have to take another one for the team.

BP guys made a Black Hawk joke being the best thing since 1911 and would not let me in the joke. I get it, you have to earn your club dues.

anyways! will probably put one on layaway jail. photos of the bad boy Wednesday

I’m a sucker for a Single Action, but the guys in the Black Powder section would kill me if I ask the Question

How do you guys like the Super Blackhawk in .44 mag??
I'm not sure why you'd want to ask a question about the Super Blawkhawk in the Black Powder section, Mark_Mark. Are you thinking of running black powder in one?
At any rate, I don't have a Super Blackhawk right now, but I used to, and never had a single problem with it. I ran everything from light, 44 Special loads, to HOLY COW!!! What in the heck was THAT??? 300gr 44 Magnum loads through it. I never did get around to running any black powder loads through my Super Blackhawk, but I'm sure it would have done okay with them.
Besides my having a 7.5" Super Blackhawk, my wife had two of the 10.5" (Super "Silhouette") versions. Back in the '80s, my wife shot AAA "Production Revolver" class in the IHMSA with her two 10.5" Super Blackhawks, was one of the top competitors in the state, and has a shelf lined with trophies in the basement and arthritis in her right thumb joint to prove it.
My wife still has one of her Super Blackhawks - she sent it back to Ruger and had a more "practical" 6" barrel installed on it. It's just a "keepsake" of sorts though - much preferring her Ruger Bearcat .22LR for plinking and shooting ground squirrels, my wife hasn't shot her Super Blackhawk .44 Mag in years. ;)

will probably make some BP loads. Love the holly black!

I have the SBH Hunter Bisley with 2X Weaver on it. I don't run anything but full house 240gr loads and she is accurate and tame for a .44. Dead on at 75 yds. Have done well taking pigs and deer.
I was wanting to carry it in the woods with full house loads. We got Bears and Big Foot here

Has a 7½" stainless SBH that was magnaported.

Nice revolver, accurate and built like a bank vault door but I personally couldn't warm up to the 7½" barrel.

If it would've been a 5½" I guarantee I'd still have it.

I like 5 1/2! too!

but the balance on my 7.5” Colt SAA is perfect. Can spin it like crazy. Let see were the SBH balances

I'm on my sixth and last. Last, in that I won't part with it. My first was bought around 1970. It was fine. Then a few more, all sold or traded. The one I have now was my late brother's. A sixties three screw in perfect condition.
I have seen him put five shots into five inches at 100 yards time and again. I have done it once.
I may get an additional one but this one stays. Even my old 29-2 would go before this one.

I have a cosmetically challenged specimen that I purchased as a 7.5" to cut down as a project gun. It ain't pretty, but it's 5" and a laser to shoot. I almost didn't cut it down, made the mistake of shooting it first and hit a golf ball sized target six outta six at 50 yards the very first time I shot it. It still shoots that good after my amateur gunsmithing. I want another one or five...

I'm as nutty as the nuttiest blackpowder fanatic, and I think the Blackhawk in all its guises is the best thing that's ever happened to the handgun hunter. I prefer the Bisley version for truly hot loads but have no argument with the fellow who enjoys the plowhandle.

Show me someone who doesn't like the Blackhawk and I'll show you someone who doesn't know much about handguns.
