Did/does Ruger make a single action 44 mag other than the super blackhawk. Particularly wondering if they made one for the new model blackhawk grip frame

While I got y'all here let me ask what are the main differences between the super blackhawk and new model blackhawk frame? I have read a lot about how strong the new model blackhawk is I was wondering if the super blackhawk is stronger

Thanks

All .44 magnum Blackhawks made since 1959 have been Super Blackhawks. The exception is the 50th aniversary gun made in 2006, which was built to the proportions of the original. The cylinder frame is the same size between a regular and super. The only difference is in the grip frame, the super grip frames are steel, instead of aluminum, and about 1/4" longer. The original Vaquero was also available in .44 mag, and was basically a Blackhawk with fixed sights. When the New Vaquero came out, it had a scaled down frame similar to a Colt SAA, and was never chambered for .44mag.

Well, sort of. The Super was introduced in 1959 but produced concurrently with the .44Mag Blackhawk "flat-top" until 1962, when it went away. From 1962 to present, all .44Mag single actions have been Super Blackhawks, with varying grip frames. Except the aforementioned 50th anniversary .44Mag Blackhawk "flat-top".

On top of that, from 1973 to present, all Blackhawks have been made on the large, Super Blackhawk frame. Differing only in markings. Until the 50th anniversary .357 Blackhawk marked the return of the mid-frame. Subsequently, Ruger has built the .44Spl on this same mid-frame and is now offering a .45 convertible through Lipsey's.

I'm not sure if this is answeringTennjed's question or not, but Ruger did make a 44 Magnum in the large frame Vaquero several years ago. Unfortunately they decided to go with the smaller frame Vaquero and dropped the 44 Magnum along the the great 44-40 for cowboy shooting.

I guess I should have made my question more to the point....sorry about that....I have a few really nice grips for my new model blckhawks with a xr3-red frame.....did ruger make a 44mag that these grips will fit

Yes, there were a few original flat-tops that made it out of the factory with XR3-RED grip frames. However, the most common .44Mag's with the XR3-RED pattern grip frame are the New Models with 4 5/8" and 5½" barrels.
