I bought a used Super Blackhawk in 44 Mag recently, 2014 date according to the serial. Gun has been fired maybe a couple times, if that. Chambers and barrel looks new.

My question is, when opening the loading gate and closing, when turning the cylinder to lock it in place, it feels gritty (Like the star on the cylinder is rubbing the frame) and the peice that locks into the slots on the cylinder drags really bad.

This is my first brand new Ruger single action. I don't remember my late 70's Blackhawk convertible doing this. Is this normal and if not, something Ruger would fix?

I couldn't exactly follow the manipulation you're trying to describe, but I wil say - the star on the cylinder, the indexing ratchet, is supposed to rub on the frame. It is the ratchets dead length contact against the cylinder frame which sets headspace.

Check the ratchet. The contact to the bolt recess should be smooth on a properly fitted Ruger. Check for burrs and a Hand that is dragging on the ratchet. Good luck.:)
