Hiking Revolver, what do you pack?

While there are black bears in east TN, if hiking I'd carry a S&W Model 317 or a Model 63. 22LR will deal with most of the small critter issues and the bears can be scared away by other means.

Yiu cannot beat the light weight of a Model 317 Air Weight. Your hard less notice that it is there.

Hiking, I open carry something large: often an S&W N frame 45 Colt or Ruger Blackhawk 45 Colt. But also like to carry my handy little R92 in 45 Colt.

Never shot a FA83. How’s it like ?’
The trigger is magical,
for me - it points as an extension of my mind,
lockup and fit - tight,
sights - awesome,
accuracy - better than anyone can actually hold,
IMHO- if someone is really serious about hunting with a revolver,
a FA is the only way to go.
Yes, I like and shoot other revolvers,
the M10, M25 and FA83 trio - I use the most,
FA83 is my favorite.

What? No cap-N-ball revolvers??? If I'm wandering the woods around home, I'll carry a "light" caliber revolver. Up North, it would usually be the .44MagSBH, but up North I usually carry a rifle or shotgun, or musket, so the sidearm might be anything, although I enjoy carrying a cap-N-ball.

1863 Remington New Model Army in Navy caliber.

The 1860 Colt is another favorite.

Of course it's not always the 1800's in my mind, I like to take Grand-dad's Luger on a walk. OOOPS! Not a revolver. Big mistake. sorry!!!

The EL Patron in .45 Colt is a good do-everything-gun, and fairly light, comfortable to carry.

As long as I have a rifle with me, musket or shotgun, this AirLite .22LR is a super favorite of mine. Almost "weightless".

Up North for sure, or anytime I don't have a rifle or shotgun, this old Super Black Hawk .44Mag has been a trusty companion. I've had it forever.
I have other pistols I like to take hiking, but those are my choices most often, most of the time. But most often, the Remington, the Colt, or a 1862 Colt Pocket-Police...just because I enjoy them more.

Currently mine is a Taurus 856 3 inch stainless .38 Special. I'd rather carry one of my Taurus out in the woods or working around my farm than one of my S&W's or Ruger's. I run a chainsaw a lot, sweat a lot in hot weather and have dropped or fallen with Taurus quite a few times and I'd rather not subject my S&W's or Ruger's to that.

I wouldn't worry about the Ruger's...they are built like a tank. The Smiths? That's another story..and the Taurus's are a cheaper version of a Smith.
