looking at their style and it’s up my alley!!

But does it handle or feel better than a Night Hawk?

thoughts

Yes and one of the few companies to still offer hard chrome as an option. Nighthawk does not
that matt hard chrome looks good. They have a shop in Charlotte NC that carries ACW. I’ll take a peek next time I’m there. Not in a rush

RRA is also an outstanding option. Mine are both Limited Match models, but they have several other models as well. They are actually my favorite 1911.

I'm....actually a bit shocked to hear that. Interesting.

Edited: after looking at the prices I shouldn't be. I'm just not familiar with that manufacturer.

My FLG thought Rock River Gen. 1 were likely the best on the market at the time. He would have changed from Caspian parts to RR for his work, but they discovered ARs and quit making pistols for a good many years.

I am sure the guns are still good, but Alchemy without Rob just ain't right. He has his own brand now.

gun company politics!

Yeah, I don't understand the politics and economics of it.
I have seen a couple of new companies on the boards.
One is kind of a mini-Cabot; an aerospace contractor who has either added or changed over to guns. OK, they had an infrastructure to build on.
The other is a group of refugees from Big Name Arkansas Gun Companies who got together and are offering $4000+ guns right off the bat. How do you get set up with facilities and how do you get noticed?

RRA made AR’s at the same time for years, but the panic after a shooting got them out 1911’s a while to focus on AR’s

Dang, those are nice!

I like them kind of plain.
I thought AccuracyX was about as fancy as I wanted. So I asked them about a 2011ish, they sent me back a picture of a wild styled thing with nothing in common with their single stacks.
I bought a pre-Staccato STI.

I like how STi 2011 shoots but the styling is too tacicool fancy. But they shoot good! probably the best shooting gun I got

MY STI is pretty plain, no flutes, toots, or French Fried Borders. Likely a Dawson gun in hard chrome with their fibre optic sight. The only thing that hurts the looks is the big black magazine well funnel.

maybe I should just get a Les Bear, been wanting one for a long time

New Old Stock here for a Premier 2 is $2700
I currently own 2 Baers and I am very pleased with the quality and performance. My first was a Thunder Ranch, but a good friend wanted it and I was willing to part with it. I didn’t go long before I bought my next Baer, the UTC.
Also have a HW Comanche, because I like Commanders.
Thinking I might buy another Baer this year. Haven’t made up my mind yet.

I’ve had an Ed Brown (bobtail) and a Wilson in the past, along with a TRP and some tricked-out Colts, but I’ve found the Baer to be, to me, the best price point for what I’m willing to shell out for a 1911 that isn’t mass produced for the masses.

Some folks don’t like Les or agree with his build philosophy, but I’m a believer. He’s an easy guy to talk to as well.

At the end of the day, there is really only so much that can be done to the platform in a mechanical sense, so some of these higher-cost guns I see just leave me shaking my head.

I mean, a ribeye is a ribeye, but you can only cook it so much and in so many ways and it’s still just a ribeye, lol!
