I got my CZ40 to use as a mold and got a little carried away with some custom frame work. I bobtailed the frame, upswept the beavertail, checkered the straps and melted the frame. When I was done its alloy frame and black poly coat needed HELP! So off it went to Accurate Plating and Weaponry in Fl.

I had the frame and slide Hard Chromed, the flats on the slide brushed, a custom fiber optic front sight, jewelled the barrel shroud, recrowned the barrel (it needed it) and added a reshaped PCR hammer to finish it off.

Its also got Wolff springs everywhere, feedramp polish and the rails are lapped on the frame/slide.

Havent shot it yet but will do next week.............

Thought you all would like to see what a CZ40 can turn out like if youre nuts enough to take it to a belt sander :what:

Shoot well.

Eric......I've been anxiously waiting to see this, another beautiful gun from what is becoming known as "eric's house of everything cz".
Is the sight a night site also, or fiber optic only? I want to change sights on mine, and I'm considering a refinish too. I really like the cz40, and yours is the nicest I have seen. Let us know how it shoots.....tom

I like that..........Erics CZ Shop"........Since Im not a licensed gunsmith, Ill have to work on a "tip basis" :D

Thanks for the kind words..........now when my Hakans get here and I make a new holster for it............now were talking........."STYLIN!"......

Shoot well....

Nice

Eric,

VERY nice.
The pattern in the barrel/chamber is sharp. Very unique.
Did you leave the safety & slide stop blued or black?

What did you use to modify/shape the grip/frame?
Assuming a bench mounted belt sander.
If so, what grit, etc? Polishing wheel after I assume?...
Just in case I get brave or stupid; whatever comes first.

OT:
Assume you play the drums.
Would explain your appreciation of RUSH.
Almost hate that they just came out w/ a new album and tour plans. Have not missed a tour since '81.
Can't bear to give-up before they do and I'm ALMOST too old to keep going to concerts.

CZS.....the controls are black. They WANTED TO HC everything...I said NO!

Heres a pic of the other side of the gun......I didnt realize I only posted one side......OOOPS! :D

See my reply on the CZF for drum info...........Yes, and Rush is killer. I too, am too old to go the concert way.....except maybe Parrot Head way.

Shoot well..........

Just a couple of quick questions...

Have the CZ 40's been discontinued?

What are the dimensions (l x w x h) of the CZ 40? I wasn't able to find them on CZ's website. How does the grip compare to a 1911?

Chris

Yes the CZ40 is officially discontinued. You can get them at CDNN cheap right now.

The dimensions are very close to a commander size 1911.

The grip is the exact same angle as the gun was originally designed by Colt.

Its a double stack gun but is not as wide as a Para and such...and the front to back dimensions are smaller than a std. 1911..its very comfy for a 1911 friendly hand..just a tad thicker in width and shorter f/back.

I dont remember the dimensions but will measure my gun.....

Shoot well.

Another huge Rush fan here.

The first time I was able to see them was last year. The new album you speak of is it "Vapor Trails" or have they made another new one?

Oh yeah..CZ40's

That's a really nice piece:D

Out of curiosity, are you a gunsmith? The reason I ask is I have a friend the might be interested in the beavertail work for his CZ.

Im not a licensed gunsmith, but I play one in my own mind :D

How does that work anyway? If I dont charge for work done to guns and I only play with the frames IE dont do trigger jobs etc, is it still illegal?

If you guys know let me know..............

Id do the beavertail work for you easily........but yould have to get it refinished. :D

Shoot well.

Eric...

Well done!! I may be somewhat new to handguns, but I recognize craftsmanship when I see it. Your talents are obviously not limited to leatherwork.

Where did you get the HC work done? Looks great! I'm jealous.

Anyone can be a gunsmith. Thats one of the reasons that you see alot of hacked guns, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Most gunsmiths have a FFL to make shipping guns easier. Another way is for a gunsmith to partner with an existing gunshop. Your work looks good enough that you should have no shortage of offers.
