My father and I have been reliving his favorite show of the 80s, Miami Vice and I notice Crockett carried many different autos over the years. Anyone know what some of the guns he carried were? Thanks.

Browning BDA in the pilot.
Bren Ten in the rest of the 1st two seasons.
S&W 645 in the 3rd and 4th seasons.
S&W 4506 in the 5th season.
Sometimes a Detonics Combat Master as a backup.

You buy the 1st season on DVD? I did and can't wait until the rest are released.

You gotta admit, that was a pretty cool show back then and if they updated the wardrobe, it would be a pretty cool show today. :neener:

Wait until you guys see

the guns they're using in the new MOVIE!

Very slick, very trick, very $$$$$$.

Let's see who can ID the maker when the film comes out. :cool:

Sure, Crockett had nice autos, and I love the shoulder rig, but it was the Smith 49 and the cut-down pump shotgun carried by Tubbs that always caught my eye. Got the 649, now just need the shotgun... :D

Sonny also carried a S&W 669 as a BUG (replaced the Detonics Combat Master) in either the 4th or 5th season, don't remember which and only the first season is on DVD at this time.

it's not going to be a remake like Starsky and Hutch was.

Michael Mann is DIRECTING the remake, so I think we can count on a faithfull reproduction. I read a quote somewhere that he wanted to make it a little darker in tone than the original series (which he always thought was lightened up too much for TV). I'm looking foreward to the movie.

A remake? Whatever happened to the guy who played Tubbs? Last thing I heard about Don Johnson, he was caught in another country with a large amount of money.

When is it due to be released?

I believe in the finale Crockett carried a MP5. The guy had a Scarab, yacht, alligator, Bren-Ten and a Ferrari. Who wouldn't want to be a vice cop?

I think Browning was importing SIGs at one point

I saw a gun at the shop w/ "Browning BDA" on one side of the slide, and SIG on the other.

My very first Sig-Sauer was a Browning BDA in .45 cal with a heel magazine release, marked as you describe. A very nice gun, and I think that Browning only imported them for a few years.

It may be a while before the rest of the Miami Vice seasons come out on DVD, if ever. Thanks to the wonderful folks in the music industry, who insist on re-licensing all the music in the shows for DVD.

You'll almost certainly never see WKRP in Cinncinnati on DVD due to this issue. Many shows on DVD substitute different songs for background music that they can't get licensed, but most of the songs on WKRP are introduced by the DJs, so they can't do that.

Dvd

I just bought the entire series off of someone on Ebay. It cost me $200 but I have every single episode along with 3 unaired episodes. Anyway, someone asked about the where abouts of Philip Michael Thomas "Tubbs"
He currently lives in Brooklyn, NY (my home town);
He's fathered 5 children;
He's done a few gospel recordings; and
He's trying to come out with a music CD

Miami Vice is a pretty cool show. I remember my sister-in-law absolutely loved it. Music was pretty good in it as I remember..

Nearly every crime drama out there today is either inspired by "Miami Vice," "Manhunter" or "Hill Street Blues." I'm going to check out Vice on DVD as soon as I can afford the sticker price. Great music.

There was that Fox show based in NY that was pretty much a 90's version of Miami Vice. What was that show called? There was the cool culture, the music, a good guy always getting killed in the end, etc...

Edmond-
I believe the show was New York City Undercover. Produced by Dick Wolf. The man who brought you the Law and Orders.
