I was changing out grips on my old Python (early 70's 6 in barrel) and discovered the name Reeves C. Jungkind engraved under the grip. I vaguely remember him as a bullseye shooter from Texas, I "think" he was with DPS in those days. Does anyone know if he also did gunsmithing? This python has one of the smoothest triggers I've ever seen.
thanks in advance,
jim

Don't know if he's still gunsmithing or if this is current, but here you go:

Thanks Nero, I'll give him a shout. I'm feeling really stoopid about now...
I've had this pistol for over 20 years and never thought to check it...
thanks again,
jim

If you have a Jungkind tunned Python, you just hit the jackpot.

Jungkind was/is world famous as possible the greatest Python tuner who ever worked.
His tuned Pythons are incredibly smooth, and usually have had the Colt "stacking" of the trigger pull eliminated.

The Jungkind mark adds a considerable amount of dollar value to a Python.

Last I heard, Jungkind was no longer at that address, but I'm NOT sure about that.

Thanks Dferis, I'll try as soon as I get back in town. I don't care about the value, I LIKE the Python and enjoy shooting it!!!! :D

another one of theose things i've just put off too long was getting a jungkind action tune on one of my pythons :cuss:

he was definately considered the master when it came to tunning the python trigger.

slightly OT...who is currently doing the best python actions?

9mm good question, and I would be interested in hearing the answer, since I do also have a 4" from the same era that I wouldn't mind getting trigger work done to also...

Sometimes I just "amaze" myself with my stupidity... sigh...

Once in a lifetime find! That would be like finding a signed copy of the declaration of independence in an old picture frame.

Those guns are works of art. I have only shot a few and it was unbelievable.

Two good sources for Python trigger tuning are:
The Colt factory.
Cylinder & Slide Shop.

I'm not sure is Walt Sherman is still working or not, but he offered an innovative roller-bearing conversion for Pythons that was really nice, and had one of the lightest pulls ever on a revolver.

I recommend these because I KNOW the quality of their work. Possibly there are a few others, but since I haven't seen their work I can't recommend anyone else.

Reeves did a Python for me last year and yes it is a very fine action. Also had a conversation on what they had to do to shoot 158 gr SWC ( hard cast there own bullets).Try this phone 325-247-1151.
