A friend inherited a Colt 1911 that is in very nice shape. The owner is thought to have been a bullseye shooter back in the day (60's and 70's) and was friends with Jim Clark, so he may have done work on this piece.

The gun is completely clean of any markings other than the serial number: 298XXX-C

The only way I know (think) it is a Colt is the rearing horse on the black grips.

It has a Bo-Mar adjustable rear sight (that has the marks "Bo-Mar Pat." on it).

The front face of the grip has some very tiny dimples in the metal to add to "gripability".

This black beauty is in great shape, and the trigger is nice.

Any ideas about what it is and the value of it?????

I got no replies, but I went ahead and bought it, and it shoots like a champ.

This is a really sweet pistol with an extra-length slide. It sits right back down to point of aim after firing. I love it.
