So do you have a room where you hang out and tinker? I would be interested in seeing it.

This is my little get away. It was the orginal one stall garage to our house till I got ahold of it.:D

LOL!

I should be so lucky, an entire room to myself and my guns?

OMG! I am lauging so hard, I can't breathe.

My entire house is covered in this.... babies, and toys...

And my basment is filled with the junk we moved out to make way for four little girls in diapers. A crook would break his neck trying to get at my safe.

A whole gun room...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

(sniff... sob...)

My goal

Well, since I'm a pre-med student, my goal is for when I'm done with school and residency, etc to build my own home.

My desire is to have one room in the basement as an armory. One wall for reloading and assorted supplies, the remaining as storage and display for different weapons.

(Btw, my plan is to build this house of brick, and this room will have a heavy steel door :) )

I've got a 4 car garage and am building a room in the back 1/4. so far I've got 14' of workbench built, window and AC installed, a couple of shelves for storage. I can't show a picture because your's looks so clean I'd be embarrassed.

Clean? Did you happen to look at that reloading bench? There is a whole lot going on there besides reloading I tell ya. You should have seen it though before I added on the closet.

It is decent for now. The couch is a sleeper so we can support a stay over guest if needed. Of course I always tell them they can have my bed and I'll sleep out there.:D

If you really want to be jealous...check out this guy's gun room

The Imperial Arsenal of Doom!, found in the basement of the Castle Argghhh!

John's a retired Army officer who does consulting work at Ft Leavenworth. That is the standard I aspire to, except I'd want a reloading bench and 'smithing workbench as well.

Scheel's & Cabela's gun libraries come close to what my fantasy gun room should look like....(sigh)

I have to share the gun/reloading room 4x12 with 300 bottles of wine and a bucket or two of fermenting beer.

No tobacco? You do know that Federal Law rewuires you to have all 3;
Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms......

Dude. Buy some cigars......:D

These are from quite a while back, have posted them before. I've since downsized significantly. Talk about a yard sale.

If I were going to build a gun room and lived on say, 2 or 3 full acres (the house takes up a little, so it would have to be more than 1 acre), I would build an above ground Bomb Shelter and build it a bit larger to accomodate a 10x10 or 10x20 vault. Ammo and Guns would be in it. I would get another 10x20 room for food and supplies.

That way, you have a bug in location. It would cost I am guessing around $25,000.00 but maybe less and can be done as a home improvement. The best thing about it is that you should be able to make it Air Tight with Air Filtration at the drop of a hat.

That is what I would do. I would then have a smaller gun safe for the hall sweeper and to rotate a couple handguns through or whatever.

Do Roadkill's photos remind anyone else of the basement in "Tremors"? Where's the 4-guage? :)

I'm starting the house hunt and I'm hoping I can work it out so that I will have a "gun room". I need to convince the lady, but if she says we "need" 3 bedrooms then I think we "need" a gun room. :)

I'm looking for either a place with a large garage or a good watertight basement where I can section of part of it for my reloading and gun storage.

halfacop, your room looks like just the ticket!

Yeah - its been nice. It took me about 7 months to get er' done (of course is a room ever really done?) A few hours here and then a few hours there, drove me nuts. I am the kinda guy that likes to have something done when I start it - no patience at all:banghead:

Good luck getting that room - you'll love having it.

no pic, but when we cast my concrete basement, we also cast a 20' square room, centered in the basement (no outside walls, to stop condensation/water osmosis) with a raised floor, and a cast concrete ceiling... added a cast-in vault door... fireproof, foolproof, and made for my guns...

Thanks for the kind words, as I originally said, that was from quite a while back and I have downsized considerably. Security was a problem and maintenance was a nightmare. Even with a dehumidifier the mold on the leather and surface rust was considerable. Every gun had to be disassembled and wiped down weekly. I've kept about ten guns and concentrate on reloading and shooting them. Its much more enjoyable than trying to keep up all the other stuff. It took about three phone calls and the stuff was all gone.
Surprised me what a market there is for that stuff.

Now see, if you lived somewhere like Nevada or Utah, the humidity wouldn't have been a problem.

Reasons I don't plan to live in the Old South when I retire.
