Are those .22 shorts or (more likely) .41 rimfire?

EDIT: nevermind, if you click the picture you get a larger version.

Neat picture. .41 rimfire shorts. I think the old Remington over and under derringers took those. You had to hit a rabbit in the central nervous system to stop it, but they were cute guns...

I can't remember, is .41 rim what the old Volcanic lever action pistol fired? I know it was some wierd old cartridge, and I thought it was a rimfire.

I won't pretend to know, but I looked it up in an old Flayderman's, and those seem to have been .30's and .38's. I don't know if they were rimfires. Kinda neat looking guns...

The Henry Repeating Rifles fired the 44Henry Flat. A 44 cal rimfire using a charge of 25-30gr of black powder with a 200gr lead bullet. Not persakly a barn burner of a cartridge.

I've got an old 45-70 rimfire cartridge kicking around. I don't know what the ballistics would've been on the thing.

I do not believe that the 45/70 Govt. was ever available in a rimfire. The early cartridges had a copper cased folded head with an internal primer. Could this be what you have?

That could very well be. I don't consider myself any kind of expert. It just "looks" like a rimfire I guess. :)
