I just left a thread, but it got "moved." I do not know what that means. I would like some advice on purchasing a good front pocket holster for this S&W.

Moved means it's been switched over to a different section of the forum where it is more appropriate for the question to be. So it's still here somewhere.

I use a Desantis pocket holster made for a baby Glock because it is slightly roomier and it seemed to fit better than the one for the J-frame. When that one wears out, I want to get 1 or 2 Mika holsters. I hear he's a great guy and makes some of the best pocket holsters. Lots of good reviews of him on here.

It means that the thread was better placed in another forum and was moved there by a moderator.

Holster questions belong in the gun accessories forum.

Desantis Nemesis. I took some carpet thread and made this minor modification so I could get all three fingers around the grip. When the guns is seated in the holster, the trigger is covered.

I don't have this gun, but the High Noon Pocket Grabbers for a couple of my other guns have worked out pretty well. The extra rubber material on the outside does add a little bulk, and they need to be broken in and practiced with before the gun comes out reliably.

I have a nemesis and dont like it simply cause it makes the gun ride too high.. its slightly visible at the top of my pocket. i am going to cut the bottom of it off. i would go with the kramer or mika if was buying another pocket holster. now im carrying it in a don hume IWB

Depending on what I wear, I use either a Desantis Nemesis or a Galco Pocket Horsehide.

The differences:

-The Nemesis rides a little lower, and is an overall slightly smaller holster.

-The Galco has the classic leather squeek that I am sure will go away as it gets broken in.

-The Nemesis is slightly more flexible and the gun slides out easier than the Galco....not saying the Galco wont let go, it is just a slightly tighter retention. The Nemesis is almost too loose to be honest.

The Nemesis is a 20.00 investment and the Galco is about 40.00

I like them both!

For a large pants pocket, the DeSantis Nemesis. For "smaller" pockets, the Uncle Mike's. Both are inexpensive and do the job very well. Try an Uncle Mike's clip-on IWB for that 642, too.

One word on the Kramer horsehide: I had one for the .32 Seecamp I carried for a few years. While well made, after a while the interior of the horsehide gets super-slick -- as in, "like glass." While this is good for a speedy draw, it stinks when you sit down and the gun slides OUT of your pocket and ONTO the floor, as happened to me TWICE -- once at a hockey game (no one noticed), another time in Sears (the salesman noticed. I told him I had a CCW and he was okay with that.) I don't use the Kramer horsehide pocket holster anymore... YMMV...

I use a Desantis Nemesis.
Also, do a thread search for "the 642 club." IIRC there are several holster recommendations in that thread.

I have two of Mika's pocket holsters. One for a J frame M49 S&W and one for a Makarov. Rounded, not squared.

Both are really good. In the pants pocket is one place I don't want leather, rather a material that's lightweight. Some leather holsters print worse than the gun.

Nothing to punch down with your fingers, no snaps to release. When you draw, the holster stays in the pocket.

About 18.00 ea including shipping. Try one. Good value.

Uncle Mike's Sidekick neoprene size 3 holster...extra ammo carry is via Bianchi Speed Strips...both are inexpensive enough to buy more than 1 at a time and keep a stash

BTW...is the "tunkhannock" as in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania?

Desantis Nemnesis pocket holsters

I like/use the great DeSantis "Nemnesis" pocket holster. These holsters are a good value. They offer concealement and protection for small frame DA revolvers. I got a Desantis for my Taurus Protector .357/.38spl snub. The holster is black nylon with a special sticky coating that holds well in pockets. :D
