True, but persons with criminal intent will carry a gun without a permit anyway. I don't think a CCW permit is going to make a person more likely (than they would be otherwise) to commit a violent crime.

Actually, this sort of thing does prove to me that the whole CCW permit system is a waste of time and resources, not to mention an "infringement." All states should just have a CCW policy similar to Vermont and Alaska.

I would be okay with an cop running a background check on a person discovered with a concealed weapon, similar to what they do on each traffic stop. If clear of violent offenses, then it should be "thanks for your time, have a nice day"

are some of you postulating that you can't trust an armed carjacker? that when he says he only wants your car, that he might be lying and intend to shoot you after you comply?

wow. that is too much. what kind of world do we live in where you cannot trust your own carjacker to keep his/her word?
