This photo was taken by a soldier in Afghanistan of a helo rescue mission. The pilot is a PA Guard guy who flies EMS choppers in civilian life. Now how many people on the planet you reckon could set the rear end of a chopper down on the roof top of a shack on a steep mountain cliff and hold it there while soldiers load wounded men in the rear??? If this does not impress you, nothing ever will. Gives me the chills and a serious case of the vertigo ... I can't even imagine having the nerve ... Much less the talent and ability. God Bless our military!!!!!
the Chinook has been in service for some 40 plus years and will be around for a while longer it seems, just like the B-52 and C-130.
I know there are a few members here currently or recently retired who went to Iraq and Afganistan so these photos might spark a few memories but they really seem to me should be shared...
hope you all enjoy these, they are some great photos I think
Saw some vid footage of some sepc. ops in Afghanistan they all had beards, trying to blend in maybe? Also some wore t-shirts and/or rags etc not issue shirts but with issue pants.
The US Constitution clearly says 'to provide for the common defense'. It says nothing about things like 'provide for midnight basketball' or 'sove all the problems of the world' or 'study the reproductive cycle of earthworms' or 'build a space station on the moon'. We should take the money we spend on other crap and give it to the men and women who defend us.
