Warning, before you go to my sites lower your volume as the opening page contains a sound file which has a loading and firing of the M1 Garand. So if you're at work or home it may be wise to check your volume control.

If you need a better copy just email me.

I've got one of those along with the grenade adapter with fins and a dummy granade. I would like to lob one down range just for the experience of it. Any idea where I can get a launching cartridge?

xtarheel,
They were fired using a SPECIAL BLANK which came with the Grenade DO NOT USE A STANDARD BLANK!!!
Thanks again

Yes, I realize that. I was wondering if there was any of those cartridges available. I have never seen any at any of the gun collector shows I have attended.

You want the M3 grenade cartridge for launching them.

Only information I can really find on its specifics are these...

M3 Grenade
248 gr (16.07 gm) cartridge weight
2.49 in (63.25 mm) length
Propellent IMR 4895
Rosette crimped on the end.
Gives a muzzle velocity of about 180 fps

The grenades themselves would then have their own charge ignited by the blank. A normal blank would be really harsh on the gas system of the Garand and cause nasty stuff to happen.

Actually there are at least two different types of grenades that could be fired with this device. The purpose built rifle grenade and the adapter/pineaple (picture).

The "Adapter Grenade Projection MaA2 1945 Model" holds the standard grenade. The inertia from firing releases the grenade handle. All the cartridge does is propel the grenade.

Also in the picture is the sight that is mounted on the rifle. It also comes with a distance chart. The pin on the launcher pushes the spring loaded gas nut deactivating the gas system in the Garand.
