Here's a second mentoree for NorCal. I'll be looking to make up for a year's worth of missed hunting when I get back from Iraq. I'm mostly interested in, well, just about anything in Northern California that you can hunt with a rifle.

Woman seeking Woman hunting mentor

I'm in central Indiana and am somewhat new to the hunting scene. I just started last year and I could use some help to keep on going. I don't know many places to hunt. When I do go out, I go alone because I don't have anybody to hunt with. The few hunters I do know go out once a year at best if they have time and the few other men willing to take me hunting were creepy and I don't know any other fellow women huntresses. It took me 3 hours to drag a deer out of the woods last year. I hate hunting alone and I would like someone(preferebly a woman) to hunt with and hunt new places and learn new things. I know one really good place to hunt deer that I will share with said partner. I'm going to be taking hunter ed classes Aug 22 to 24 in brown county state park so I will be a good and safe hunting partner too.

I've never hunted. So what does one do after making a kill.

Any mentors in New Mexico?

Been rabbit and squirrel hunting a few times (over 20 years ago), that's it. My Dad got too sick to hunt right around the time I was starting.

Mainly interested in turkey, mule deer, and elk. I've bought and read a few books and seen a few videos, that's about it.

I really, really want to "get out there and do that!"

Any mentors in the Dallas Area?

I'm 32 with a 6 year old boy and a 3 month old boy. I grew up in the means streets of Brooklyn, NY where owning a slingshot was illegal.

I have since moved to Dallas and developed a love for the outdoors and fire-arms. I started my collection and look forward to one day passing them down to my boys. I go to the range at least once a month and just love to shoot.

I have never hunted, and wouldn't know the first thing to do once I shot the game. I would love to meet someone who has a passion for hunting and passing their skills to others.

I promise to do an excellent job in passing anything I learn to my boys and even my grandkids when I have them!

Any mentors in Michigan?

I'm 24 and new to Michigan, I want to lean how to hunt for Michigan deer. In Florida I would hunt for Key Deer in the everglades, but it's a hole new ball game up here. I moved here for work and thats all I have done since I've been here. It would be nice to get out in the woods and relax. One of the first things I need to do is take a hunter safty course, before I go anywhere near the woods.

Anyone interested in hunting in Mississippi? I recently retired and have hunted all my life. If I can help you get started in Mississippi, let me know.
I have a camp in North Mississippi where I spent lots of time, but I live on the Coast where there is plenty of public land to hunt.

Anyone here gearing up for deer season?

I live in central VA and I've always wanted to learn how to hunt. In about a week or two I'll be taking the hunter safety course then getting my liscense. Nobody else in my family hunts or owns guns so I'm on my own.

Mentor in Southwest Georgia

I would be happy to be a mentor for anyone in located close enough to Southwest Georgia to make it possible. I have over thirty years experience hunting big game, small game, waterfowl, turkey, upland birds etc. If interested send me a PM and we can work from there.

Im from the New Orleans area, and I hunt in North Louisiana. I'd be glad to mentor someone in deer hunting. This would be a good year, we're doing well. REMEMBER - in Louisiana, if your under a certain age, (I believe 40, but check with LDWF), you cannot get a hunting license without completing the safety course first.

The Gila and Cibola Nat. Forests for elk, mule deer, coues deer, turkey, bear and mnt.lion, plus calling coyotes.

I'm in Columbus, Ohio. I've always wanted to learn to hunt, just never had the opportunity. I can travel anywhere in the state anytime I need to. I'd greatly appreciate the chance to learn a little something about hunting before I get too old to learn new tricks.

North Central Indiana

Been hunting all my life. I take my boys whenever I get the chance but could always use more hunting buddies. Theres really nothing I havnt hunted that Indiana has to hunt, but mostly deer, small game and some varmint/predator hunting.

Mentored Hunting/learning how

My two cents worth... find your state hunter education instructor association and talk with them. They have hundreds of years experience to share with students. Many states have an "Outdoor Women" program, that for a nominal fee, ladies can learn hunting, kyacking, canoes, camping, backpacking from women instructors... and the list goes on.

I've been involved, teaching Oregon Hunter Education courses since 1975 (before my kids were born). It's a great time mentoring and the students really have fun.

A few years ago, I taught a lady doctor to hunt elk with her muzzle loader. I'd met her thru Boy Scout Explorers, and talked about hunting around the group camp fire. She talked my wife into letting me teach her and a friend to hunt. She went rifle deer hunt too. She has now moved to Colorado for better hunting opportunities and a great job.

Most gun clubs and archery clubs have programs to mentor members too.
