I was wondering what those things might look like coming from Italy.
Post-war upgrades and not looking too shabby at all.
Thanks for the picture and enjoy your new rifle.
Looks like the Garand has some late parts on it too. Makes a nice start to a Korean war collection. Now you just need one of those $35 Chinese T53s to complete the set.
Nice pair of rifles you have there now if only they could talk.
For a couple good books I would highly suggest Shots Fired In Anger by John George and U.S. Weapons Of World War Two by Bruce N Canfield.
Both books are well worth adding to your collection even if you have to check Ebay.com Amazon.com or Half.com to find them.
Keep any of the old parts if you ever do restore them, they are only going up in price.
Gunparts Corporation/Numrich Arms has many neat items for theserifles both originals and reproductions.
So far as I can tell from your pic, the non-lockbar rear sight on your Garand is post-war; and the Carbine has the type 3 barrel band, stamped rear sight (both of which could be late WWII) and is in an M2 post war stock.
