He later added, "There's a reason they go out and shoot each other, because they don't love themselves. And the reason they don't love themselves is because we are not loving them enough."

So, Mr. and Mrs. Obama, how many gangbangers are you going to adopt and love?

Obama does not have a chance anyway. He can't carry any state in the south, and the Dems need at least one southern state to win.

With the name "Barack Hussein Obama," he could be the reincarnation of Billy Graham and he would still be viewed as a potential terrorist. I wouldn't even call it bigotry, so much as the power of association; the mere fact that Kerry spoke French cost him some votes--and he's practically descended from royalty.

Only a complete racist and ignorant moron would judge a man by his name or his religion. Its a sad state of affairs when we have political mudslinging based on religion or someone's name.

Tecumseh: I agree with you in principle. But suppose, just suppose, that an American family named their child "Adolf Hitler." And suppose that the parents weren't arrested for that--I'm not sure if the 1st amendment would protect them.

Tell me you wouldn't have a problem voting for "Adolf Hitler" for US president? Even if that man, in a parallel universe, were named "Ron Paul"? Most people would. And it's not because they're racist morons; it's the way the brain is wired. Some associations are powerful. In recent decades, immense resources have been spent building the "Hussein = Hitler" association in our minds. The association is not as strong, but it's mighty strong nonetheless. For example, I was surprised to learn that Obama wasn't a Muslim--even though there was no basis for supposing he was or wasn't, except the name. Coulter always refers to him by his full name precisely to evoke that association.

But it's not stupidity; it's a survival trait. If we weren't wired that way, we'd have gone extinct long ago, when our cavemen ancestors all said, "Only a speciesist moron would assume that ALL lions were killers..."

I'm surprised, I'm not surprised. I'm suprised that the Dems are discussing gun control again; I thought they learned their lesson. They seemed to be doing OK by treating gun control as a non-issue. The Dems in Minnesota haven't said much about gun control lately as they know it can take away votes.

About what I expect from a former Board member of the Joyce Foundation, a jerk who voted to ban the .30-30, a jerk who supported prosecution on gun charges of those in Chicago who used a firearm in self defense, and an all around leftist in general. Scratch a leftist, find a fascist.

While I agree in principle, I'm at the point now where any legally allowed trick in the book should be used to defeat the enemies of freedom and the constitution.

I've flat out had enough of Obama, Hillary, Edwards, Giuliani, McCain, and even Bush for that matter.

Your comparison is a bad one as Obama was born before Osama bin Laden or Saddam Hussein became infamous names or people. Should Germans not name their child Adolph? Americans name their children Andrew like Andrew Jackson who murdered indians? What about Joseph because of Joseph Stalin? What about George as in king George and his tyranny? Don't forget Alfonso because of Mr. Capone.

I am sorry but if people try to scare votes away from a politician then those people are more of a threat to freedom than the politician in question.

Tecumseh, the association has nothing to do with when Obama was born.

But you make my point for me: today Germans do not name their children "Adolf"; the name has become extremely rare since WWII. The name was also fairly prevalent in the US before WWII (my house was built by Adolf Pajerski), and is unheard of today.

Similarly, Germans today sometimes greet each other with the word "Salve!" I asked an East German friend what that meant, and she said, "You know, as in 'Salve Caesar!'" I replied, "Oh, 'Hail, Caesar!'," and to her blank look added, "You know, 'Heil Caesar!'" She reacted visibly and said, "We don't say 'heil' anything in Germany!"

In regards to Tecumseh's remarks...

Hey now Jackson was a great president. Jackson was the person who captured Florida for us without it we would have lost the last two elections..Jackson also won us a critical battle in the war of 1812 that kept a great deal of this country from being burned down. Learn your history before you ignorantly spout your mouth off.

This is typically why we don't vote in Democrats around these parts. I can't imagine the actual stupidity in existence here. Amazing.

Ooooooooo.......Grant48...that might not sit well!

I'll just stand here and wave bye-bye to Obama. He just hanged himself. Hades, his own camp probably bought the gun and planted it there!

The name nonsense should stop right now. Let me be clear; if it doesn't stop now, this thread will be closed.

Besides, the "Adolf Hitler" comparison would make a lot more sense if the kid were named "Adam Hiller" and some numbskulls still wanted to compare him to Hitler.

Kind of like you do regularly, right? Or maybe I am just a 'Christo-fascist' huh?

Practice what you preach hypocrite.
