Remington UMC .40 for $7.00 a box here in Urbana, Sunday I couldnt get anyone to help me at the counter, even picked up the phone there and paged someone myself. Nothing. Left a babbling tickle me elmo toy spewing nonsense over the intercom when I left.

Today, got someone at the counter but the ammo is locked up and the guy with the keys took both sets home.

So there are still six boxes there waiting to be had.

Went to the other Walmart and none of the 9mm scanned under the marked price but the guy at the counter said there would be a big sale on the WWB 9mm 100rd. value packs at $9.00 a box later this week. Said he would put a few aside for me. That store is in Savoy,IL.

It was five bucks a box at the new walmart in Greeley, but it was all gone. It is worth mentioning that they had some other ammo on sale as well, to include .380 for 9 bucks a box......

Thanks for the heads up on the ammo. I managed to clean out the WalMart in Oak Park Heights, MN of all the $5 9mm ammo (6 boxes). Also picked up the remaining 2 boxes of $7 remington .40. I stopped by 3 other Wal Marts (they were on my way home) and none of them had the clearance ammo anymore.

Perfect timing... I'm low on 9mm. I'll be watching for those value packs to go on sale assuming that the rep. that bakerj spoke to is correct.

Hmm, I haven't even looked in Walmart for ammo in a long time since most around here don't sell guns and many don't sell ammo anymore. Those that stopped selling guns and ammo marked them way down just before discontinuing them. Since some of your Walmarts are having the sale and some aren't, maybe the ones with the sale are discontinuing their ammo sales.

Catonsville, MD wal-mart by the way
That Walmart is very "hood".

I grabbed up 4 boxes of WWB 9mm at one of the Toledo area stores, I went to two others and at one of them, I think the guy working the counter lied to me when he said there wasn't any left, as I saw some of the 124gr stuff under the counter. Nobody seemed to have any .40 on clearance left.

One of the Wal-Marts here was getting out of guns. They had two of their last Remington 11-87's marked down from over $575 to $89....:what: Girl behind the counter said they both sold in a few minutes.

People who shop at Walmart deserve everything they get when decide to shop at WM, instead of their local gun stores. Once your local stores are out of business, and Walmart decides to stop selling ammo you will be forced to either travel far to buy ammo or buy over the internet which is becoming more of a hassle.

Or new stores specializing in ammo sales will open to fill the economic gap left by Walmart not selling ammo. This is just part of the economic cycle. Specialize, compete, or die.

My local "gun store", actually part of an independent, local full line dept/hardware/ clothing /sporting goods store quit selling firearms.

They had had a gentlemen running the sporting goods dept. He quit basically because of promises unkept. After about a year and a half they persuaded him to return. He stayed for several years and then left again for the same reasons. Now he has been gone from there about 4+ years and last summer early fall they announced a close out on all firearms. It seems as though they had gotten very slack with paperwork, incomplete paperwork, and numerous firearms missing from inventory. I work in a hospital a couple of blocks away and learned this from one of our nurse anesthetists whose son was working in the sporting goods dept at that time. I also heard the same thing from the head clerk in their hardware dept.

They still sell shooting assessories, ammo, powder, primers bullets, brass ect ect., but since they no longer have firearms I rarely go there unless I am need of something quick. I used to be one of the better customers, I was free and welcome to go behind the counter to look and choose, and often, usually several times a year would order a not too common high dollar firearm.

Now the closest "gun shop" is nearly 40 miles away, so I have let my interest gravitate to the older firearms, and milsurps which I can purchase using my C&R license and have delivered. It was nice having a place close that carried a nice line of guns, but alas, it's gone.

For those of us that arent loaded with cash, walmart is the better option. Locally where i live the markup on the ammo at the gun stores is ridiculous compared to what it costs at walmart, granted i also get a 10% discount as i work for a walmart distribution center, but even without that walmart is still by far the better deal, why would someone want to spend 5-10 dollars more for a box of ammuntion just because it was from a local business, and i understand that in some peoples eyes walmart is the great evil empire, but you cant fault people for wanting to get the most out of the money they earn. And for them to get rid of there ammo would be insane, i am sure they make quite a bit of money selling it in there stores nationwide, it doesnt take up to much space and for the size and the price it would be a bad move to get rid of something that sells well and takes up little to no space in there stores.

Now i will step down from my soap box.

Thats because you dont live in one of the "Free" 45 States.

There's definitely some truth to that. Though the city is even worse.

I finally found a WM that had a box of 124g and it was $7, so not quite the deal that some folks have grabbed.

bank

I had to go to Wal-Mart Thursday because my bank has a branch there that stays open until 8:00

Which one of you guys bought it all in Newport..?? :) The clerk said one guy cleaned them out... $19..something for 100 rounds packs now..The last I bought there was $14.88

I bought 100 rounds of 45 acp white box winchester for 11.00 at wal mart only box they had. I talked with a friend of mine who works there and they are going to stop ammo sales except for shotgun at 2 of the three stores near me. Looking to get more 45 if they put any more out.
