That's a custom engraved lower. The company that does it (Tom Sawyer) does a lot of limited run, custom engraved AR lowers. Another one that (I think) they have done is a skull and crossbones with model listed as ARRR-15.

I don't think the .223 is sufficient for zombies either. But, as I understand it, the thought is that the .223 is supposed to wound the zombie so that two other zombies will have to come for him thereby taking three zombies out of the battle. The obvious problem with this is that zombies don't give a crap about their wounded.

Zombies are already dead. Thus, 223 isn't going to create much of a wound channel in their dried-out, decaying flesh and organs. I think #4 buck in 12ga would make a far superior zombie killer than an AR.

it doesn't matter where you hit them, if its not in the head. Only head shots will stop a marauding zombie.

Haven't you seen the training films?

good sights, low recoil, high capacity mags, its a great zombie killer.

Naw man, Hollowpoints are the only way to go with zombies. I suppose, then, that, if you loaded the sucker with hollowpoint 5.56s, that it would be an effective zombie-killing weapon. But I'd still go with a .357...

Oh man, on the zombie forum that I frequent, they think that all you need is a .22lr to stop a zombie everytime! "Oh it'll bounce around all over the place inside the skull!"

I would say 9mm at least, and .223 would be fantastic.

Using a shotgun for zombie defense is nothing short of foolish. Think about it like this - shotguns are generally best in close-up combat applications, compared to rifles or even most handguns.

The splatter effect of a 12 gauge slug or buckshot meeting a zombie cranium would be terrible in terms of contamination control. No better way to spread that plague-ridden head goo than blasting it with a shottie, I'll tell you that.

For me, it's rifles and handguns all the way. Preferrably more rifles than handguns, for the sake of distance.

Nolo,

I know you're new here. This has been hashed out about a million times. Search is you friend!

:)

Does this Tom Sawyer outfit have a website?
Steve at Tom Sawyer Manufacturing engraved an AR-15 lower for me. Steve is no longer in the engraving business, and is referring customers to Orion Arms.

Thanks for that orion arms link, lol interesting stuff.

On the discussion of zombies, no matter what you use, unless you hit them in the head theres good chance that they still will keep coming.
Personally, any cartridge with gunpowder pushing a bullet would be good enough to kill a zombie, and right in the head is where it ought to be.

Best zombie weapon....

300 whisper, integrally suppressed, full auto 20" AR-15, equipped with beta 100 rd drum mags and steel core ammunition for maximum penetrtaion into massed zombie hordes.

Also you would have to have some work gloves on because after 1 or 2 drums that thing would be HOT!

steel core ammunition for maximum penetrtaion into massed zombie hordes

Steel core? I like that! Add a silvertip and it will also be effective against werewolves and vampires.

Ammo's got to be cheap since the living dead tend to attack in mass. Someone contact Wolf and tell 'em we have an idea for a new cartridge. :)

I think #4 buck in 12ga would make a far superior zombie killer than an AR.

Awww... come on now. What has Hollywood taught us about zombies?

- Any head hit is an effective stop, regardless of caliber
- When is the last time you saw a zombie attack involving less than nine zombies

Carrying a shotgun for zombies just means you'll be the guy doing the Davy Crockett routine with an empty shotgun. ;)
