The range I frequent does not charge by the hour. It is 20 buck for a lane as long as you want to stay there. They do however nick ya for 40 bucks if ya want to shoot your MGs....

No indoor ranges around here. There are two public ones close, though. Both are pretty good, and both are free. At the times I go (early AM weekdays), I'm usually the only one there.

It's around $10 for 30 minutes at one local indoor range and $15/hr at another. IMO, it's too expensive.

Count one of those votes for "10-15 an hour" as "less than 10." The idea of a range charging by the hour is so strange to me that I didn't register it at first. The indoor range I use charges 12-15 per day, depending on the day. But I don't pay it. Much cheaper to buy a membership. :D

$180/yr for both wifey and I at the local indoor range. It would be $280, but I get a discount due to having EMS licensure (same discount given to LEO/mil/fire). Their hourly fee is $12. No holster work unless you're LEO, and I'll reserve further commentary on that policy out of respect. :)

$100/yr for us both at a local sportsman's club, which has a 200 yd 100 yd range, fishing pond, skeet/trap, and...a reactive pistol range. This one's a seriously good deal.

Gettin' Ripped Off

After reading the other responses, I feel like I'm gettin robbed. I go to an indoor range which is $15 an hour. If I go with a buddy, it's $15 each for the same lane!! Yearly single membership is $200.

I pay $25 or so for a yearly pass that gets me into any state park in the state of Indiana. A DNR operated range is about five miles from me and is included with the park pass.

wow, many people here are gettin ripped off... that or I am just lucky where I live...

it's 8 bucks all day for the indoor range or the outdoor range. there is even a restruant at the indor range (not actually ON the range... heh) and you can go eat and look around at the taxidermy then go back to shooting if you want.

the outdoor range isn't as nice, but there are longer ranges and they can handle steel core stuff.

Am I the only one that finds their local public range scary as hell? We're talking redneck central here. I kept waiting for the range to go cold, so I could change targets. It was pretty clear to me that every target in sight was so shot up that nobody could possibly have the slightest idea of whether or not they were even hitting anything. I eventually concluded that they were just shooting off their guns to hear them go bang.

I've been there on other days where everyone was safe, responsible and shooting with purpose, but I've also seen outrageous safety violations. There is nothing worse than being downrange changing targets and looking back to see some dumbass playing with the action on his rifle.

There have been two deaths in the last five years and yet the range continues to operate without any supervision whatsoever. Its insane. I avoid the place like the plague and so do most of the other shooters I know.

My range charges $225/yr per person, but my brother and I split a couples membership so we each only had to pay $125 for unlimited range time.

Normally, its like $9/hr if you bring your own ammo, $8/hr if you buy theirs.

I needed to sight in my rifle today. I went to Bass Pro to shoot in their rifle tube, which is underground. Its been so darn hot here in North Texas, the mere thought of trying to do it outdoors made me sweat.

Anyway....I paid $9.00 which is for 1 hour. I believe their pistol range is $8.00/hour.

wow, u guys are getting ripped off

I pay like 75 a year for membership (it's like 95 for a family) to a private range with a nice 25/50/75/100 ft pistol range, they do a few idpa matches, 25/50/100yd range for everything, and a 100,200,300 yd rifle range, all of these are outdoor with nice canopies, and we can shoot anything we want, sept tracers cuz we had a fire started by them back in the day, full sporting clays course, archery, skeet, and trap,(friendly competition) and they have a pheasant preserve which costs a little extra a year, u just call the caretaker and he'll release some birds for you. plus annual club meetings, dinners, turkey shoots, bowling pin shoots, anything you can think of really. once in a while i might get volunteered to go help cut some brush on the club land, but otherwise it's just that $75 a year:neener: , and there's no guest fee

I also live 20 minutes away from S&W on page blvd in springfield, i forget what there rates are, but i shoot there once in a while
